Senior Associate Athletic Director John Ruppert enters his 13th year at Bryant University in 2011-12. Ruppert oversees the day-to-day operations of the Bryant University Athletic Department, including facilities, event management, marketing and promotions for Bryant's 22 intercollegiate varsity athletic teams.

Ruppert was named Assistant Athletic Director in September of 1998 and was promoted to Associate Athletic Director in July of 1999. Appointed interim Director of Athletics following the departure of Dan Gavitt to the Big East Conference, Ruppert was named Senior Associate Athletic Director in 2005.

A 1989 graduate of Temple University, Ruppert came to Bryant from the Atlantic-10 Conference, where he served in several capacities, including Director of Championships. As the director, he coordinated the conference's 21 team championships, including event planning, and oversaw all aspects of administration and hiring and evaluating officials. He also served as the A-10's liaison with all coaching groups. 

Among his other responsibilities were developing the regular-season league schedules for men's and women's soccer, field hockey, volleyball, women's lacrosse, softball and baseball as well as overseeing the conference's merchandising program.

As an undergrad, Ruppert was a letterwinner on the Temple men's swimming and crew teams. After earning a bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Ruppert earned his master's degree in education at Temple in 1993.

Ruppert and wife Julie reside in North Attleboro, Mass. with son Connor and daughter Emma, born January 20, 2004.
