Tom Duffy- Basketball Coach 1964-68
Tom took Bryant basketball from the shadows to the spotlight.
In his four years as Bryant head coach-from 1964 to 1968-the Indians won 70 games while losing only 22. The .760 victory percentage makes Tom the most successful basketball coach in Bryant history.
The 22 victories posted by his 1966-67 team still stands as a Bryant record foru most basketball victories in one season.
In 1967, Words Unlimited, the Rhode Island Association of Sportswriters and Sportscasters, named Tom the Rhode Island Coach of the Year. His selection marked the first time a Bryant coach had received the coveted honor.
Tom resigned as head coach the following year because of his
duties as an education administrator in the Pawtucket public school
system. Over the next two decades he served as principal of
several Pawtucket schools, including Shea High School.
Throughout his education career he remained close to
athletics, serving as the R.I. Interscholastic’s Director of
Boys Basketball until his retirement as Shea principal two years
ago.
