Tom Smile
Basketball 1964-67
Leader of teams that enjoyed one of the greatest stretches in Bryant basketball history, Tom Smile still ranks as the all-time leading scorer in school history. Smile holds numerous school scoring records and played on a team that helped the college make the jump to NCAA competition.
Smile joined the Bryant team in 1965 and enjoyed a record season by pouring in 802 points in his first season. His 33.4 points per game average during the 1965-67 season is also a school record.
In 1966-67, Smile led the Indians to a 22-0 start and third consecutive Naismith Conference championship. During that season, he scored his 2,000th career point in front of a capacity crowd at Hope High School.
That team was elected into the Bryant University Hall of Fame in 2007. Smile finished his career at Bryant with a record 22.8 points per game average, still a school record.
During Tom’s three years at Bryant, the Indians were 55-15, highlighted by a 22-2 mark in 1966-67.
