SMITHFIELD, R.I. - With spring sports rapidly approaching, Head Coach Karen Rife previews the upcoming season for the women's lacrosse team on the Pat Sullivan show. Rife's squad finished 11-5 (8-2 NE-10) in 2006 and reached the conference semifinals. This year's team features of plenty of offense, including 40-goal scorers Shaun Leddy (Sea Girt, NJ), Lauren Carlisle (San Diego, CA) and Delia Glover (Martston Mills, MA).
Sullivan also sits down with Head Coach Mary Burke who has her team riding a season- best six-game winning streak. Behind a sellout crowd at the Chace Center last Saturday, the Bulldogs defeated Bentley for the first time ever in a regular season game. They continued their success with a convincing 78-65 victory over Franklin Pierce Tuesday. Sullivan chats with freshman center Adrianne Mayshar (West Boylston, MA) and asks her about this weekend's showdown with 14th-ranked AIC. Despite winning six straight and moving into a tie for fourth in the conference, Bryant remains ninth in the region, essentially two spots out of a NCAA Tournament berth.
The men dropped a heart-breaking game to #3 Bentley on Saturday in front of 2,660 fans at the Chace Center before coming back in the waning moments to defeat Franklin Pierce in overtime Tuesday. Ranked fourth in the region, sophomore Jerrann Wright (Cincinnati, OH) talks about last week's crowd and discusses the Bulldogs plan in the remaining five remaining regular season games.
