Jay Jones completed his fourth season at Bryant in 2009. After coaching the team's quarterbacks in ‘06, Jones coached the the Bulldogs' running backs. In 2007, Bryant averaged 180.5 yards per game rushing and scored 24 rushing TDs.
During the 2006 season, Bryant quarterback Charlie Granatell ‘08 was the nation's second-rank passer in terms of passing efficiency rating at 167.55, completing 134 of 212 passes for 1,975 yards and 21 TDs.
A 1994 graduate of Rhode Island College, Jones was previously an assistant coach at Cranston West High School from 1999 to 2005.
While at Cranston, Jones served as the varsity assistant coordinating the offense while working with the receivers, running backs and defensive backs. Cranston West won the Rhode Island SuperBowl in 2004.
A former wrestler and baseball player at Rhode Island College, Jones played free safety for the Woonsocket Sentinels, leading the team in tackles in 2002 and earning All-NEFL honors. Jones, has one daughter, Haley (13).
