Study Hall

Student-athletes participating in study hall must agree to and sign the Bryant Athletics Study Hall Code of Conduct.

All first years are required to complete a minimum of eight hours of study hall weekly for the first semester of attendance at Bryant University.

The cumulative grade point averages (GPA) of all student-athletes will be reviewed prior to the start of each semester (fall/spring). The sliding scale below will be used to determine who is required to attend study hall and the number of corresponding study hall hours required for each week of the semester.

The cumulative GPA standards used to establish the required number of study hall hours per week is as follows:

For all student-athletes:
0.00 - 2.40 = 8 hours/week

For first-year and sophomore student-athletes:
2.41 – 2.69 = 6 hours (all)

2.70 – 2.99 = 4 hours (first-year student-athletes)
                       2 hours (sophomore student-athletes)

The following activities can be counted toward the hourly requirement for study hall attendance:

Quiet Study

Quiet study will be housed in a designated area, and hours will be made available at the beginning of the semester. Supervised study hall during travel will also count toward the weekly requirement.

Goal-Based Study Hall

Goal-based study hall is a pilot program in which participating students will be working closely with a team of peer tutors and writing consultants to establish goals and objectives for his or her study hall week. Goal-based study hall will provide participating students with academic support services to help achieve their goals. Goal-based tutors will also meet with student-athletes to assess their study habits and will check in regarding progress toward individual weekly objectives. Goal-based study hall will be housed in a designated area, and hours will be made available at the beginning of the semester.
