Now in his ninth year at Bryant University, Associate Director of Athletics John Ruppert was appointed interim Director of Athletics in August following the departure of Dan Gavitt to the Big East Conference.
Named Assistant Athletic Director in September, 1998, Ruppert was promoted to Associate Athletic Director in July, 1999.
Ruppert oversees the day-to-day operations of the Bryant
University Athletic Department including facilities, event
management, and marketing and promotions for Bryant's 22
Intercollegiate athletic teams. 
A 1989 graduate of Temple University, Ruppert came to Bryant from the Atlantic-10 Conference where he served in several capacities, including Director of Championships. As the director, he coordinated the conference's 21 team championships, including event planning as well as overseeing all aspects of administration, hiring and evaluating officials, and serving as the A-10's liason with all coaching groups.
Among his other responsibilities were developing the regular season league schedules for men's and women's soccer, field hockey, volleyball, women's lacrosse, softball and baseball as well as overseeing the conferences's merchandising program.
As an undergrad, Ruppert was a letterwinner on the Temple men's swimming and crew teams. After earning a bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Ruppert earned his master's degree in education at Temple in 1993.
Ruppert and wife Julie reside in North Attleboro, Mass. with son
Connor and daughter Emma, born January 20, 2004.
