Bryant Women's Soccer Opens With Win

POMONA, Calif. - The Bryant women?s soccer team rallied from a 2-0 deficit to win its season opener, 3-2 in overtime at Cal Poly Pomona late Thursday night. The Bulldogs trailed 1-0 at the half and fell behind 2-0 five minutes into the second half, but Lisa Bielenin (East Walpole, Mass.) cut the lead in half with a goal in the 52nd minute after taking a pass from Christina Kalukiewicz (Littleton, Mass.).

Casey Grange (Methuen, Mass.) tied the match up at 2-2 with a goal for the Bulldogs with just over 15 minutes left in regulation and in overtime, it was Bielenin again finding the back of the net with the game-winner three minutes into the extra period to give Bryant its first win of the season. Bryant (1-0) will travel to UC San Diego on Saturday.

The Bryant men?s soccer team fell to Cal Poly Pomona last night 4-2. The Bulldogs trailed the Broncos 1-0 at the half and fell behind 2-0 before Joe Truncali (Unionville, Conn.) put Bryant on the board with a goal in the 52nd minute on an assist from Bryan Gravel (Londonderry, N.H.). The Broncos would stretch the lead to 3-1 before Michael Garguilo (North Branford, Conn.) cut the lead to 3-2 with a goal, but Pomona would pull away with a goal in the 80th minute to make it 4-2. Goalkeeper Alex Bissias (Harpswell, Maine) made four saves in goal for Bryant. The Bulldogs will travel to Cal State Los Angeles on Sunday.
