Bryant Tennis Hosts Northeast-10 Conference First Round Wednesday
Bulldog Women To Host Semifinals and Championship This Weekend

SMITHFIELD, RI - The Bryant University men's and women's tennis teams will each host first round matches of the 2005 Northeast-10 Conference Championship on Wednesday afternoon at the Bryant Tennis Courts. 

The Bryant men, seeded No. 3 in the tournament behind No. 1 Assumption and No. 2 Franklin Pierce, will host sixth-seed Pace University in a match set to start at 2:00 p.m.  Doubles will be played first followed by singles until the match has been decided. 

The men's semifinals and championship will be played at Stonehill College.  The winner of the Bryant - Pace matchup will take on the winner of Wednesday's match between No. 4 Bentley and No. 5 Stonehill.  The Bulldogs are 12-6 overall this season and posted an 8-2 mark in conference play led by the stellar play of senior Erik Zipp who is 7-2 this year in conference matches at No. 1 singles.  Freshman Craig Drushella is 8-2 in conference matches this year at No. 4 singles.

The Bryant women will open defense of their 2004 NE-10 title by hosting Southern N.H. at 2 p.m. on Saturday at the Bryant Tennis Courts. The Bulldogs are the top seed of the tournament and will host the semifinals on Saturday and Sunday.  Southern N.H. comes in as the No. 8 seed. The winner will advance to Saturday's semifinals where they'll face the winner of No. 4 Saint Michael's - No. 5 Merrimack matchup. 

Bryant posted its second-straight undefeated conference regular-season record at 12-0 and were 18-1 overall on the season.  Sophomore Sacha Solomon brings a 31-4 overall record in two seasons at Bryant - including a perfect 22-0 record in conference matches.  Alex Spence, Annette Jervasi and Alanna Santanello are also undefeated in conference play this year. Match 7: Match 5 winner vs. Match 6 winner – 11:00am
