MEN’S BASKETBALL (20-7, 15-7 NE-10)
Bulldogs Head To Saint Anselm Tonight For NE-10 Quarterfinals.
The Bryant men’s basketball team advanced to the quarterfinals of the Northeast-10 Conference tournament with a 60-57 win over Franklin Pierce in the first round on Saturday. The Bulldogs will travel to third-seed Saint Anselm Monday night in Manchester, NH with the winner of that game schedule to play Thursday against the winner of Monday’s matchup of the Saint Rose / Merrimack quarterfinal contest. With three 3-pointers in Saturday’s win over Franklin Pierce, junior guard John Williams (Springfield, Mass.) set a new school record for three’s in a season with 89. Williams passed Romuald Augustin’s mark of 87 set last year.
Coupled with last year’s win total of 23, and this year’s 20 victories, the Bulldogs have set a new school best two-year record in the program’s history.

Bulldogs Advance to Quarterfinals With Win Over Franklin Pierce
The Bryant women’s basketball team advanced to the quarterfinal round of the Northeast-10 Conference tournament with a 47-43 win over Franklin Pierce Sunday at the Chace Athletic Center. Kellie Fournier (Westport, Mass.) led the way with 19 points off the bench. The senior center had seven rebounds and made 7 of 14 shots from the floor in the game. Lindsay Hermann (Bristol, Conn.) added 10 points plus two blocks for the Bulldogs. Bryant will travel to Southern Connecticut on Tuesday at 7 p.m.

Greigre Sets New Mark in 200 Meters at New England Championships in Boston
Bryant sophomore Hafiz Greigre (Attleboro, Mass.) continues to raise the bar for the Bulldog indoor track & field teams. Ranked 19th nationally in the men's 200 meters, Greigre set a new school record with a time of 21.83 seconds to finish fourth in a qualifying round Friday at the New England Championships at Boston University. In Saturday's finals, Greigre placed fourth in the finals of the 200 meters in 21.89 seconds.
Matt Cutler (Yarmouthport, Mass.) and Nick Balistrieri (Glastonbury, Conn.) competed Friday in the men's heptathlon with Cutler finishing eighth with 2,102 total points. Balistrieri, a junior, placed tenth with 1,947 points.
On the women's side, senior Holly Resendes (Warwick, R.I.) placed 18th overall in the women's 5,000 meters Friday night. Resendes finished in a season-best time of 18:39.45.
Freshman Amber Torrey (Plainfield, Mass.) earned a 13th-place finish in the women's weight throw with a throw of 46 feet, four inches.
BASEBALL (0-3, 0-0 NE-10)
Bulldogs Head to Wilmington College This Weekend
The Bryant baseball team, 0-3 on the season after dropping a season-opening series at No. 1 Florida Southern two weeks ago, return to action this weekend at Wilmington College. The Bulldogs are schedule to play a doubleheader on Saturday with a single game scheduled for Sunday.

Bulldogs Defeat NJIT As Spring Season Opens
Erik Zipp (Darien, Wisc.) recorded a straight-set win at No. 1 singles while sophomore Ben Caisse (Griswold, Conn.) was also victorious at No. 2 singles as the Bryant men’s tennis team edged NJIT 6-3 Saturday in Tenafly, N.J. The Bulldogs will take on Pace University Friday in Hartford, Conn.

Sacha Solomon (Bourne, Mass.) came from behind to record a three-set win at No. 1 singles while Alex Spence (Lynnfield, Mass.) recorded a straight-set win at No. 2 singles to help lead the Bryant women’s tennis team to a 7-2 win over NJIT on Saturday. The team will return to action Friday with a conference match with Pace University scheduled to take place in Hartford, Conn.

WILLIAMS NAMED ALL-CONFERENCE ACADEMIC
Bryant men’s basketball standout Mike Williams (Ellington, Conn.) was named to the Northeast-10 Academic All-Conference team for 2004-05 the league announced last Thursday. A graduate student who will earn his MBA from Bryant this spring, Williams has a 3.51 GPA in Financial Services, Williams is currently averaging 11.2 points per game and 7.5 rebounds per game entering Monday’s conference quarterfinal game at Saint Anselm. He is the all-time career blocks leader with 274 and third all time in rebounds with over 900.
BRYANT HONORED BY RHODE ISLAND SPORTS WRITERS
Bryant University was well represented last Sunday evening at the Words Unlimited 59th annual awards dinner as the Bulldogs took home a pair of awards for athletic achievement during the 2003-04 academic year. Before a capacity ballroom crowd at the Radisson Hotel in Warwick, Bryant was recognized with the Rhode Island Small College Achievement Award, as well as Rhode Island Male Coach of the Year, which went to baseball coach Jon Sjogren '88.
BASEBALL’S NOVAKOWSKI NAMED PLAYER OF THE WEEK
Bryant junior third baseman Paul Novakowski (Prospect, Conn.) was named the Northeast-10 Conference Baseball Player of the Week while Eric Loh (Old Greenwich, Conn.) was named pitcher of the week and Jason Alexander (Simsbury, Conn.) earned freshman of the week honors.
