ON NORTHEAST-10 CONFERENCE SPRING ALL-ACADEMIC TEAMS
SMITHFIELD, RI . – Eight Bryant University
student-athletes have been named to the Northeast-10 Conference
Spring All-Academic teams for 2005. The announcement was made
this week by the conference office. Representing Bryant on
the NE-10 All-Academic Team include: men's lacrosse sophomore
Bill Palacino (Smithtown, NY); women's lacrosse senior
Michelle Lewis (East Amherst, NY), track & field sophomores
Mike Nessralla (Halifax, Mass.) and Edith Muller (Andover, Mass.);
men's tennis senior T.J. Euley (Bristol, Conn.) and women's tennis
junior Annette Jervasi (Colchester, Conn.); baseball senior Mickey
Ryan (Lowell, Mass.); and softball senior Carly Muise (Hanson,
Mass.).
Palacino (right) played in 16 games this
past season for the Bryant men's lacrosse team, scoring 10 goals
and assisting on another to finish with 11 points. Lewis, a
standout two-sport athlete at Bryant in both field hockey and
lacrosse, was recently named Academic All-Region and Division II
Lacrosse All-Region. Nessralla, a qualifier for the New
England Outdoor Track Championships in May, posted the top marks in
both the men's discus and shot put this spring for the Bulldogs and
is the school's record holder in the discus (149 feet, 3
inches).
Both Euley and Jervasi were instrumental in leading the Bryant
men's and women's tennis teams to outstanding seasons. Euley
was 11-7 this season and earned all-conference doubles honors by
the Northeast-10. Jervasi posted an 18-2 overall record at
No. 3 singles (12-0 in conference) in leading the Bulldogs to the
conference title. Ryan, an all-American as a junior for
the Bulldog baseball team in '04, hit .250 and was named third-team
all-conference this past spring. Muise, a first-team
all-conference selection this year, hit .304 in leading the
Bulldogs to their first-ever NE-10 Conference tournament
championship.
To be eligible for selection to the academic teams, a
student-athlete must have met and/or exceeded the following minimum
requirements: participated in at least half of the team's
competitions and be either a starter or significant contributor;
achieved a 3.2 cumulative GPA; completed at least one academic year
at his/her current institution. The Northeast-10 All-Academic
teams are chosen by a vote of the conference sports information
directors.
