SADDI WILLIAMS '06 HELPS MENTOR COLLEGE-BOUND STUDENTS

Everyone has their own definition of success. For Bryant students like Saddi Williams '06, in addition to being a stellar student and athlete, success also means reaching out to help others be successful, too.

Williams, a business major concentrating in marketing with a communication minor, set out to formulate a plan of action for inspiring and helping others. With four friends from Paul Lawrence Dunbar High School in Washington, D.C., Williams established Young Voyce, a Christian-based youth advocacy organization. The organization offers mentoring programs for college-bound students and has resulted in a scholarship program.

"Young Voyce was created to encourage young people to achieve excellence in every aspect of their lives," says Williams. "My friends and I saw Young Voyce as an opportunity for young people to become educated, empowered, encouraged, and excited." Williams and his partners are devoted to Young Voyce, despite their busy schedules, and as a result it has grown - and expanded.

Over the past three years, the organization has offered the Extraordinary Scholars award of up to $500 that is given to seniors at his high school alma mater who demonstrate a good GPA, community service, and leadership capabilities. The scholarship staff reviews 50-60 applications annually.
