John Ruppert Appointed Interim A.D.
BRYANT APPOINTS JOHN RUPPERT INTERIM DIRECTOR OF
ATHLETICS
SMITHFIELD,RI – Bryant University President Ron Machtley has
asked Associate Athletic Director John Ruppert to serve as the
Interim Director of Athletics in place of outgoing Athletic
Director Dan Gavitt. John has agreed and will oversee the
Athletics & Recreation Department while a search for a new
athletic director is ongoing.
John is now in his eighth year at Bryant University where he has
overseen the day-to-day operations of the athletics program;
overseeing facilities, event management, club sports, intramurals,
and marketing and promotions for Bryant's 22 intercollegiate
sports.
A 1989 graduate of Temple
University, Ruppert came to Bryant from the
Atlantic-10 Conference where he served in several capacities,
including director of championships. As the director, he
coordinated the conference's 21 team championships, including event
planning as well as overseeing all aspects of administration,
hiring and evaluating officials, and serving as the A-10's liaison
with all coaching groups.
