MEN'S CROSS COUNTRY
Head Coach - Amy Laughlin
Northeast-10 - 5th place / NCAA Regionals - 7th place
The men's cross country made huge strides last fall, turning in
strong performances at both the Northeast-10 Conference
Championships as well as the NCAA Northeast Regional Championships.
Behind the strength of juniors Caleb Paul and Jared Nelson, the
Bulldogs improved on their seventh-place finish a year ago with a
fifth-place finish at the conference meet in Colchester, Vt.
Paul, finished 15th while Nelson was 29th at the conference
meet. Paul also was the team's top finisher at the Bryant
Invitational,
taking second.
WOMEN'S CROSS COUNTRY
Head Coach - Amy Laughlin
Northeast-10 Championships - 6th / NCAA Regional - 8th
The Bulldog women¹s cross country team improved on last
year¹s finish at the conference meet, moving up a spot to
sixth overall as senior All-American Paula Klepadlo took first
place at the Northeast-10 Conference Championships. For
Klepadlo, it was her second first-place finish of the year after
winning the Bryant Invitational in October. Holly Resendes was 12th
at the NE-10 Championships while teammate Nicole Radzik crossed the
line in 23rd.
FIELD HOCKEY
Head Coach - Coni Fichera
Record: 7-12 (5-11 NE-10 7th place)
Fielding one of the youngest teams in the conference this season,
the Bryant field hockey team faced some of the top teams in the
country. Opening with a 7-1 win over Mansfield, Maureen Burns,
Kristen Patat and Michaela Dwyer helped pave the way for newcomers
like Courtney O¹Brien and Lisa Kennen. Burns tallied a
team-best eight goals and added six assists (22 points) in earning
All-Conference honors and Second Team All-American distinction.
O¹Brien and Laynie Sadler each notched five goals apiece.
Patat posted a 1.37 goals against average and graduates the holder
of all career and single season goalkeeping records.
FOOTBALL
Head Coach - Marty Fine
Record: 4-5 (4-5 NE-10 6th place)
Under the direction of first-year coach the Bulldogs made
tremendous strides in 2004, winning four games while fielding a
lineup that consisted mostly of underclassmen. Freshman quarterback
Charles Granatell set a school record with 1,300 yards passing
while Chris Peaks took care of the running game, gaining more than
600 yards on the season to earn all-conference honors. Defensively,
Delano Dryden set a new school career sack record while Greg Daniel
led the way with 56 total tackles. Wins over Assumption,
Pace, and Stonehill proved the program is headed in the right
direction, while the double overtime win over Saint Anselm
highlighted a successful football season on the gridiron.
GOLF
Head Coach - Archie Boulet
NE-10 Champions / NCAA Regional Champions
In the fall, the Bulldogs captured the school¹s 19th
Northeast-10 Conference title. This spring, the Bulldogs set a
school record at the Le Moyne Springtime Invitational for a two-day
score while David Falcucci broke the Bryant single season and
two-day school record with a 65 and 69. Dan Falcucci, Jim
O¹Connell, Brenden Smith, and Jeremy Hall helped guide the
Bulldogs to their fourth-straight NCAA Regional Championship and a
trip to the NCAA Finals for the 17th time in school history.
MEN'S SOCCER
Head Coach - Seamus Purcell
Record: 6-9-2 (6-5-2 NE-10 6th place)
Men's soccer rode the back of senior Clint Stonacek, picking up
wins over Stonehill, Saint Rose, Saint Michael¹s, Assumption,
and Merrimack ranked No. 24 in the nation. In all, seven
games were decided by a single goal. Eleven different players
tallied a goal, but it was Stonacek who paced the way offensively
with 11 goals and four assists for 26 points on the year. The
senior earned all-conference honors in leading the Bulldogs into
the Northeast-10 Conference tournament once again. Jon Feinman, Joe
Vouris, and Michael Garguilio each had three goals. Seniors Matt
Monroe and Bill Emmert were both a solid presence on defense.
WOMEN'S SOCCER
Head Coach - Chris Flint
Record: 13-5-2 (9-3-2 NE-10 4th place)
Using a strong combination of experienced veteran leadership and
youthful talent, the Bryant women¹s soccer team posted 13 wins
on the season and earned return to the Northeast-10
tournament. Casey Grange and newcomer Diane Pascale had the
scoring touch around the goal, combining for 21 goals, while senior
Kristen Harmon added 10 goals and four assists. Kim Rekart capped
off a successful season in goal, earning First Team All-New England
honors. Christine Kalukiewicz, Rekart, and Harmon each were
selected to the NEWISA Senior Bowl. Wins over Saint Anselm,
Bentley, Southern Connecticut, and Saint Michael¹s highlighted
the year.
VOLLEYBALL
Head Coach - Theresa Garlacy
Record: 35-6 (14-0 NE-10 1st) / NE-10 Tourney Champs / NCAA
The Bryant volleyball team flexed their muscles once again, posting
another undefeated conference regular season and capturing the
team¹s second-straight Northeast-10 Conference
tournament. Behind the offensive firepower of Michelle
Muñiz, Lindsay Klix, Jessica Henson, Jessica Cegarra, and
defensive standout Carola Pierluisi, the Bulldogs earned their
sixth-straight trip to the NCAA tournament. Muñiz, the
conference player of the year, earned honorable mention All-America
honors and AVCA All-Region honors, while Pierluisi, owner of the
Bryant¹s career and season digs records, was named All-America
by Daktronics. Henson was named the NE-10 Freshman of the
Year, and freshman Tiffany Garry garnered Setter of the Year
honors. Cegarra was named Third Team All-Northeast-10.
MEN'S BASKETBALL
Head Coach - Max Good
Record: 25-9 (15-7 NE-10 6th place) / NCAA Regional Champ /
NCAA Elite Eight / National Finalists
It was a historic season for the Bryant men¹s basketball
team. Not only did the team find themselves back in the NCAA
tournament for the second-straight year, the Bulldogs went to new
heights by winning the school¹s first regional championship,
and reaching the NCAA championship game in March. It was the best
finish ever by a team from the Northeast-10. Junior, John Williams
averaged over 20 points a game and set a school record with 119
three-pointers. Mike Williams blocked 80 shots and was named the
NE-10 Defensive Player of the Year, while Mario Correia and Chris
Burns each had solid post-season performances. Burns and John
Williams earned all-tournament honors at the NCAA Elite
Eight. The Bulldogs set a school record with 25 wins.
WOMEN'S BASKETBALL
Head Coach - Mary Burke
Record: 18-12 (12-10 NE-10) / NCAA Tournament
A year after reaching the NCAA tournament regional title game, the
Bulldogs proved 2004 was not just a fluke, but a sign of things to
come. Behind the play senior standout Dede Fogarty and sophomore
guard Joanna Skiba, the Bulldogs made a return trip to the NCAA
tournament, the first back-to-back trips to the regionals in over a
decade. Starting strong, the Bulldogs opened the year by winning
nine of its first eleven games. Fogarty demonstrated
all-conference form in leading the Bulldogs with 13.7 points per
game while backcourt mate Skiba earned all-conference honors with
128 assists. Seniors Kellie Fournier, Jessie Weber and Lindsay
Hermann helped guide the Bulldogs to the NE-10 tournament
semifinals.
BASEBALL
Head Coach - Jon Sjogren
Record: 21-20 (16-14 NE-10 5th place)
The Bryant baseball team earned a return trip to the Northeast-10
Conference tournament in 2005, but after enjoying it¹s most
successful season a year ago, the Bulldogs ended the year with a
record of 22-21 and a fifth-place finish in the Northeast-10.
Five players earned all-conference with Adam Rourke and Daryle
Crowley earning second team honors. Rourke led the team with
a .355 batting average and had 55 hits while Crowley hit .305 with
27 RBIs. Paul Novakowski, Mike Rocco, and Mickey Ryan all
earned third-team honors.
SOFTBALL
Head Coach - Lisa-Ann Wallace
Record: 29-17 (22-6 NE-10) / NE-10 Tourney Champs / NCAA
Behind the play of conference player of the year, Deidre Kittredge,
the Bulldogs won the school¹s first-ever Northeast-10
Conference Championship and earned a trip back to the NCAA
tournament for the second year in a row. The Bulldogs won a
school-record 29 games this year as Kittredge hit .413 with a
school record 39 RBIs. Lindsay Connor led the team with a
.418 batting average and 69 hits.
MEN'S TENNIS
Head Coach - Larry Sack
Record: 13-7 (8-2 NE-10)
The Bryant men's tennis team made their sixth consecutive trip to
the Northeast-10 Conference tournament thanks to wins over Pace,
Saint Michael¹s, Bentley, and Stonehill. The Bulldogs were
13-7 overall and finished third in the conference standings with an
8-2 record. Senior Erik Zipp earned all-conference honors with a
15-4 record at No. 1 singles while freshman Craig Drushella was 8-2
in conference matches in his first season with the Bulldogs.
WOMEN'S TENNIS
Head Coach - Barbara Cilli
Record: 22-2, 12-0 NE-10 / NE-10 Champions / NCAA
Regional
The Bulldogs successfully defended their conference title with
another undefeated season and conference championship, earning the
school¹s second-straight trip to the NCAA Championships. Led
by Sacha Solomon, the ITA Regional Champion and conference player
of the year, the Bulldogs defeated Queens (NY) in the first round
and reached the regional championship match before falling to
Kutztown. Solomon more posted a 19-1 record at No. 1 singles and
has not lost a conference match in two seasons. Alex Spence and
Annette Jervasi gave the team a boost at No. 2 and No. 3 while
Alanna Santanello was a perfect 19-0 at No. 5 singles.
MEN'S TRACK & FIELD
Head Coach- Amy Laughlin Indoor - 5th in NE-10 / Outdoor
Championships ppd
It's was a record-breaking year in track & field for the
Bulldogs, as sophomore Hafiz Greigre set new school marks in both
the 55 and 200 meter sprints during the indoor season. As the
spring rolled around, Greigre took things to a new level, as the
speedster set new standards in both the 200 meters and 400
meters. Matt Cutler set both an indoor and outdoor record in
the men¹s heptathlon while Jozef Gallot set a Bryant pole
vault record by clearing 12 feet, 5.5 inches. In addition, the
distance medley team also set a new mark with a time of 10:34.45.
Freshman Dallas Lynch posted the team¹s top outdoor marks in
the long and set a school record in the triple jump at the New
England Championships.
WOMEN'S TRACK & FIELD
Head Coach - Amy Laughlin
Indoor Track & Field - 4th NE-10 / Outdoor Championship ppd
The Bryant women¹s outdoor track & field team has enjoyed
a strong spring season. Michelle Morris has run well in the
sprints, while Nicole Radzik and Holly Resendes have been excellent
in the distance events. Radzik set a school record in the
steeplechase at the Bryant Invitational and holds the indoor 3,000
record. Lisa Bielenin set a new school mark in the 400 during the
indoor season. The field events have been strong as well with
freshman Amber Torrey leading the way in the discus, shot, and
hammer throw.
MEN'S LACROSSE
Head Coach - Rory Whipple
Record: 11-6 (8-2 NE-10 3rd place) / NE-10 Tourney Runner Up
Maintaining their place in the national standings, the men¹s
lacrosse team has stayed ranked in the top ten throughout the
season. Despite battling tough injuries, the Bulldogs reached the
NE-10 Tournament for the sixth time in the program's six year
history. Senior Andrew Serge and sophomore Adam Smith helped
provide much of the offense this season with Serge using his speed
and quickness around the net to notch 28 goals on the season while
Smith isn't far behind with 26. Freshman Craig Buckout
finished his first season with 21 goals on the season and 12
assists. The Bulldogs earned wins over Bentley, Pace, and
Southern N.H. twice this season, once in overtime and again in the
first round of the Northeast-10 Conference quarterfinals.
WOMEN'S LACROSSE
Head Coach - Karen Healy
Record: 12-5 (8-2 NE-10 3rd place)
Under the direction of first-year coach Karen Healy, the 2005
Bulldogs won 12 games this spring, advancing to the semifinals of
the Northeast-10 Conference tournament. Marisa Lawrence and
Shaun Leddy had the scoring touch up front with Leddy notching a
team-best 43 goals while Lawrence added 28 to go with her league
leading 30 assists. Senior Melissa Talamini became the
program¹s first 100 goals scorer with a goal vs. Southern
N.H. Amanda Gallant and Lauren Carlisle have also been
factors on attack for the Bulldogs with 32 and 41 goals
respectively while Samantha Libby, Michelle Lewis and Maureen Burns
have been keys on defense.
