FOOTBALL (3-1, 3-1 NE-10)
Perry’s 122 Yards Leads Bulldogs Past Pace on Homecoming    

Junior Lorenzo Perry (Providence, RI) rushed for 122 yards and two touchdowns to lead the Bryant football team to a 20-19 win over Pace before 4,820 fans at Bulldog Stadium on Homecoming. Jon Zenquis (Northbridge, Mass.) had a 59-yard kickoff return to set up the game-winning score in the second quarter as quarterback Charles Granatell (Franklin Lakes, NJ) scored on a one-yard keeper up the middle to put the Bulldogs up 20-19.  Perry had 57 yards receiving and scored on touchdown runs of 13 and nine in the first quarter. Bryant¹s last 3-1 start was in 2000 as the Bulldogs need a win Saturday to equal the best start in school history, 4-1 by the 1999 team.  Though it won¹t be easy as as the Bulldogs visit preseason-favorite C.W. Post on Saturday for a 12 p.m. game.  The Pioneers defeated Saint Anselm, 73-17 Saturday. 

FIELD HOCKEY (3-7, 2-6 NE-10)
Bulldogs Look to Get Back On Next Sunday vs. Stonehill

The Bulldog field hockey team looks to get back in the win column after two tough losses last week as the team will have a week to prepare for Sundays game with Stonehill at the Bryant Field Hockey Complex (11 am). Bryant dropped a 1-0 decision to Merrimack on Thursday and fell to Assumption 5-2 Saturday. Laynie Sadler (Rehoboth, Mass.) has seven goals to lead the Bulldogs this season.

MENS SOCCER (2-3-3, 2-2-2 NE-10)
Bulldogs Tie Up Franklin Pierce, 3-3 Friday; Hosts Saint Anselm

  The Bryant men’s soccer team picked up a 3-3 tie with visiting Franklin Pierce on Friday as Nick Balistierri (Glastonbury, Conn.) scored with just over five minutes remaining to tie the game at 3-3.  Justin Stepnowski (Glastonbury, Conn.) and Manny Rodriguez (North Branford, Conn.) each had goals for the Bulldogs.  Bryant will host Saint Anselm on Wednesday at 3:30 p.m.

WOMENS SOCCER (7-3-2, 3-2-1 NE-10)
Bulldogs Defeat Southern N.H. 2-1 and Saint Michaels 1-0 in OT

    The Bryant women’s soccer team, ranked No. 8 in the region last week by NSCAA, picked up a pair of wins on the week to improve to 7-3-2.  On Wednesday, the Bulldogs rallied from down 1-0 at the half to defeat Southern N.H. 2-1 and followed with a tough 1-0 double-overtime win over Saint Michaels on Saturday.  Diane Pascale (Plymouth, Mass.) notched the game-winner in the Saint Michaels contest with Sara Vienneau (Salem, N.H.) picking up the assist.  The Bulldogs will travel to Le Moyne on Tuesday for a 1 p.m. game.

CROSS COUNTRY
Bulldogs Run Well at RIC; Hosts Annual Bryant Invitational

 The Bryant mens and womens cross country teams warmed up for the annual Bryant University Invitational with a strong showing at the Ray Dwyer Invitational hosted by Rhode Island College. Caleb Paul (Addison, Maine) led the way for the men with a first-place finish in in a time of 27:24 while Jared Nelson (Cranston, RI / Hendricken) was fifth individually in 28:31. On the womens side, sophomore Nicole Radzik (Sutton, Mass.) led the Bryant women to a fourth-place finish by finishing second overall in 19:24.  This Saturdays Bryant Invitational starts at 11 a.m. with the women¹s race followed by the men at 11:45 am.

VOLLEYBALL (8-6, 3-0 NE-10)
Bulldogs Defeat UMass Lowell 3-0;  Hosts Southern N.H. Tuesday

     Bryant ran its conference unbeaten streak to 31 matches with an impressive 3-0 win over visiting UMass Lowell Wednesday night.  The Bulldogs have not dropped a regular-season conference match since the end of the 2002 season.  Michelle Muniz (Guaynabo, Puerto Rico) had 24 kills in the team¹s 3-1 win over Bridgeport on Friday night and averaged 5.80 kills per game in three matches this week.  Freshman Maureen Atkins (Fenton, MO) had 16 service aces in the three matches - including eight aces in the teams win over Stonehill Friday night.

MENS GOLF
Bulldogs Capture Third-Straight NE-10 Title and 20th Overall
   The Bryant men¹s golf team captured the schools third-straight Northeast-10 Conference Championship over the weekend in Syracuse, NY.  It was the program¹s 20th conference title overall for coach Archie Boulet. The Bulldogs finished the two-day tournament tied for first with host Le Moyne after the Dolphins led the Bulldogs by six strokes after the first round.  But behind the play of Brenden Smith (North Attleboro, Mass.) and Jim O¹Connell (Troy, NY), the Bulldogs rallied to tie the championship with a round of 310 on Sunday. Smith shot a 72 on Sunday with O’Connell carding a 79 after an opening round 71.  To break the tie atop the leaderboard, the fifth golfers score from Sunday¹s round between the two teams were compared with Bryants Kris Hart (East Longmeadow, Mass.) finishing three strokes ahead of LeMoynes fifth-best on Sunday.The Bulldogs will compete in the URI Adams¹ Cup Monday and Tuesday before heading to the ECAC Championships this weekend.

DOWN THE STRETCH ...

NASSANEY RACE A SUCCESS

   More than 600 runners and 150 volunteers turned out for the fifth-annual Shawn M. Nassaney Memorial Race/Walk Sunday at Bryant University.  Roland Lavalley (Bellingham, Mass.) was the overall winner with a fast time of 15 minutes, 14 seconds over the 5K course.   Pat Tarpy (Providence, RI), a former all-American at Brown University, finished second in 15:22.  Heidi Westerling, a New Hampshire native who ran for the University of Rhode Island, was the women¹s winner, clocking in at 17:59.  Bryant graduate Eric Narcisi (Smithfield, RI), who was a freshman when Nassaney was a senior at Bryant, was the top male Bryant alumnus to cross the line, finishing sixth in 17:48.  Holly Resendes (Warwick, RI) was the first Bryant female alumna to finish, placing 38th in 21:22.

HALL OF FAME ANNOUNCED SATURDAY

The Bryant University Department of Athletics announced the Hall of Fame Class of 2006 during Saturday¹s homecoming football game at Bulldog Stadium. This years class includes:  Noelle Emmette 92 (women’s volleyball);  Bill DiStefano 98 (baseball); and Stephanie Ladd 89 (women¹s basketball). Emmette earned three all-conference awards including player of the year in 91.  DiStefano of Norwalk, Conn. ranks fourth all-time in hits and led the Bulldogs to the Œ98 NCAA Regional.  Ladd still ranks No. 3 all-time in scoring with 1,410 points and helped lead Bryant to back-to-back NCAA appearances. The Hall of Fame dinner and induction ceremony will take place January 21.
