Bulldogs Look to Bounce Back From Loss to No.
24 Stonehill Tuesday
When Team Visits
Merrimack College
Playing their fifth game in 11 days, the Bryant
men’s basketball team dropped a 77-63 decision to
24th-ranked Stonehill College Saturday at the Chace
Athletic Center. The Bulldogs opened the week with an overtime win
over Assumption Monday night and 77-63 victory at Bentley Thursday
before the Stonehill game. Freshman Nick Pontes (New Bedford,
MA) was named the Northeast-10 Conference Freshman of the Week on
Monday and followed with a strong 16-point, seven rebound
performance against Bentley Thursday. The win over the
Falcons was the 180th career coaching victory
(81st at Bryant) for fifth-year coach Max Good.
John Williams (Springfield, MA) moved into 11th all-time
in career scoring at Bryant with 1,372 career points. He needs 28
points to move into 10th all-time. Williams, Chris
Burns (Merrimack, NH) and Jon Ezeokoli (South Orange, NJ) have
combined for 89 of Bryant’s 118 made three-pointers this
season.
Women’s Basketball (6-7, 1-7 NE-10)
Team Falls to No. 17 Stonehill; Visit
Merrimack and Assumption This Week
The Bulldogs went 1-2 last week, earning a 74-63 win over
Assumption on Monday night to earn its first conference win of the
season. The team will look to rebound from losses to Bentley and
17th ranked Stonehill when the Bulldogs travel to North
Andover, MA Tuesday night for a conference game at Merrimack
College. Since her debut with the Bulldog lineup, senior Shannon
Perry (Providence, RI) has recorded a double-double in all five
games and brings a 17.4 ppg scoring average and 13.2 rebounds per
game average into Tuesday contest. She grabbed 18 rebounds against
Stonehill Saturday, three shy of Karyn Marshall’s school
record of 21. Junior Joanna Skiba (Providence, RI) is second
on the team with 16.5 ppg and leads the team Bulldogs with 31
three-pointers in 13 games.

Bulldogs Return To Pool Following
Holiday Break To Host WPI Saturday at
Chace Athletic Center
The Bryant men’s and women’s swimming teams,
idle since the Northeast-10 Conference Championships in New Haven
back on Dec. 9-10, will return to the pool this Saturday, hosting
Worcester Polytechnic Institute (WPI) in the second home meet of
the year. The Bulldogs, under the direction of head coach
Katie Cameron, turned in a solid outing in competing in their first
conference championships as a first-year program. The Bryant
men placed sixth out of seven conference teams competing in the
meet hosted by Southern Connecticut in New Haven, Conn. The women
were seventh overall. Saturday’s meet with WPI starts at 2
p.m.
Indoor Track & Field
Team Remains Idle Over Winter Break; Next Meet
Jan. 28 at Wesleyan
The Bryant men’s and women’s indoor track
teams have been idle since early December and will continue to
train in preparation for the Wesleyan University Cardinal
Invitational on Saturday, January 28 in Connecticut.

Hall of Fame To Induct Three New Members
January 21
The Bryant University Athletics Hall of Fame will
welcome three new members as the Class of 2006 is officially
inducted on Saturday, January 21 at the Bello Center on the Bryant
University campus. The three new members of the hall of fame, as
chosen by a 10-person committee, are former volleyball standout
Noelle Emmette ’92; baseball player
Bill DeStefano ’98; and women’s
basketball star Stephanie Ladd
’89.

Bryant Basketball To Be Honored by
Rhode IslandSportswriters
Words Unlimited, the statewide organization of sports
writers, sportscasters and sports publicists, will hold its 60th
annual Sports Awards Banquet on Sunday, Feb. 19, at The Radisson on
Post Road in Warwick. The reception will begin at 5:30 p.m.
and dinner will be served at 6:30 p.m. Tickets are

Highlighting the list of award winners is the Bryant University
Men's Basketball team which will receive the Story of the Year
Award for 2005, while head men's basketball coach Max Good has been
tabbed as the 2005 Male Coach of the Year.
The Bryant men's
basketball team took the region by storm last season,
capturing the school's first NCAA Northeast Regional
Championship and advancing as far as the NCAA Championship game in
late March. Max Good, now in his fifth year at Bryant, has
guided the Bulldogs to two-straight NCAA Championship games and 48
wins in the last two seasons.
