BRYANT'S LIZ DAVIES AND ERNIE DEWITT NAMED TO NORTHEAST-10 CONFERENCE 25TH ANNIVERSARY BASKETBALL TEAMS
SOUTH EASTON, Mass. The Northeast-10 Conference has announced the members of the 25th Anniversary Men's and Women's Basketball Teams in conjunction with the Northeast-10 Conference's year long celebration highlighting 25 years as a league. The Northeast-10 25th Anniversary Teams have been chosen by a vote of the 15 Northeast-10 member schools.
"Basketball has been one of the driving forces behind the success
of the Northeast-10 Conference," said Northeast-10 commissioner
David Brunk. "It is a honor for the conference and its members to
take this opportunity to give tribute to a fine collection of men
and women who contributed many great things during their respective
playing days."
Ernie DeWitt is the most famous basketball player in Bryant history. In his first year in a Bryant uniform (1978), DeWitt was named both the New England Rookie of the Year for all divisions and the ECAC Division II Rookie of the Year. In each of the next three years, he was one of the top Division II players in the nation, earning TWO All-American honors. He concluded a sensational career in 1981 with a First Team All-America honor by the United State Basketball Coaches Association and ECAC Division II Player of the Year honor.
In February of 1981, DeWitt became the only player in Rhode Island college basketball history to score 2,000 career points and grab 1,000 career rebounds. He is currently second all-time in career scoring at Bryant with 2,239 points and first with 1,036 career rebounds.
