BULLDOGS RETURN HOME AT 17-GAME ROAD TRIP TO HOST UMASS LOWELL
THURSDAY
Following a 17-game road trip to open the 2006 season, the Bryant
baseball team will host UMass Lowell this Thursday at 3 pm at the
Bryant Baseball Complex. The game will mark the home debut of
first-year coach Jamie Pinzino. Last week, the Bulldogs
dropped a pair of games at Mount Olive and were swept in a
four-game series over the weekend at Shippensburg.

BRYANT LOOKS TO REBOUND FROM FLORIDA TOURNEY IN WITH DOUBLEHEADER
SUNDAY AT HOME
The Bryant University softball team went 0-6 at the Florida
Southern Spring Invitational this past weekend, ending the weekend
with a tough 3-2 loss to Hillsdale in eight innings. Amanda
Wilbur (Lakeville, Mass.) went 3-for-5 at the plate and had one RBI
for the Bulldogs against Hillsdale. Tied 1-1 after seven
innings, the Bulldogs went ahead 2-1 with a run in the top of the
eighth, but Hillsdale rallied with a pair of runs with two outs in
the bottom of the eighth to pull out the win. Bryant, 29-17
last season and Northeast-10 Conference tournament champions, will
host Caldwell College for a non-conference doubleheader on Sunday
starting at noon. The Bulldogs were picked to finish second
in the Northeast-10 Conference in ‘06.

BULLDOGS HOST AIC AND SAINT ANSELM MARKING FIRST HOME EVENTS ON NEW
CAMPUS COURTS
After a pair of losses last week at Barry University and Eckerd
College in Florida, the Bryant men’s tennis team returns home
this week hosting American International Tuesday and Saint Anselm
College Wednesday for a pair of conference matches at the new
Bryant tennis courts. The courts were relocated adjacent the
Bryant track complex last fall. Bryant was picked to finish third
in the Northeast-10 Conference this season in the preseason
coaches’ poll released last week behind Assumption and
Bentley.
WOMEN’S TENNIS (2-0, 2-0 NE-10)
TEAM RETURNS TO CONFERENCE ACTION THIS WEEK
The Bryant University women’s tennis team will return to
action this week with conference matches at Assumption on Wednesday
and at AIC Friday. The Bulldogs are a unanimous preseason
favorite to repeat as Northeast-10 Conference Champions in 2006 in
last week’s NE-10 preseason coaches’ poll, garnering 13
first-place votes Under the direction of coach Barbara Cilli
(Providence ‘87), Bryant has captured two-straight conference
titles and automatic NCAA championship berths.

EIGHTH-RANKED BULLDOGS FALL TO NO. 20 NYIT; BULLDOGS HOST SAINT
ANSELM WEDNESDAY
The Bryant men’s lacrosse team fell to second-ranked and
defending national champion New York Institute of Technology, 20-12
Saturday at Bulldog Stadium. Senior co-captain Adam Smith
(Bainbridge Island, Wash.) scored three times to lead the Bulldogs
while freshman Matt McKeefrey (Melville, NY) added a pair of goals.
Bryant, ranked No. 8 in last week’s national rankings,
will open Northeast-10 Conference play Wednesday hosting Saint
Anselm College at 3:30 pm.
WOMEN’S LACROSSE (3-0, 1-0 NE-10)
TEAM OPENS YEAR UNDEFEATED HEADING INTO SHOWDOWN WITH NATIONAL
CHAMP STONEHILL
The Bryant women’s lacrosse team takes a 3-0 record into
Tuesday’s home game with defending national champion
Stonehill College. The Bulldogs, 12-5 last season, were
picked to finish third in the Northeast-10 Conference preseason
coaches’ poll. On Saturday, the team opened conference
play with an 18-7 win at Southern Connecticut. Junior Shaun Leddy
(Sea Girt, NJ) had four goals while senior Marisa Lawrence
(Falmouth, Mass.) added three to lead the Bulldogs past the Owls.
Leddy has a team-best 11 goals this season. Last week,
she notched her 100th career goal in the team’s win over
Presbyterian, scoring five times in leading Bryant to a 21-5 win.
Junior Lauren Carlisle (San Diego, Calif.) is second with 10
goals in three games.
MEN’S GOLF
BULLDOGS OPEN SPRING SEASON IN MYRTLE BEACH
The Bryant men’s golf team opened the 2006 spring season at
the Fairfield Invitational in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina,
finishing the two-day tourney in eighth-place. Senior Jim
O’Connell (Troy, NY) led the way for Bryant, finishing tied
for 16th with a two-day score of 162. Teammate Mike Philipp
(Bristol, Conn.) carded a 79 during the first day of competition
and finished tied for 25th with a 164.

SPRING SQUADS OPEN OUTDOOR SEASON AT NORTHEASTERN THIS WEEKEND;
BULLDOGS PICKED 4TH
The Bryant men’s and women’s outdoor track & field
teams will open the 2006 spring season this Saturday at the
Northeastern University Snowflake Invitational in Dedham, Mass.
Both men’s and women’s teams were picked to
finish fourth respectively in the Northeast-10 Conference preseason
coaches’ poll released last week.

BRYANT’S JOHN WILLIAMS TO PARTICIPATE IN ELITE-EIGHT ALL-STAR
GAME
Men’s basketball senior guard John Williams (Springfield,
Mass.) has been selected to participate in this week’s
inaugural NCAA Division II/ NABC All-Star game in Springfield,
Mass. Williams, a First Team All-Region selection and co-Player of
the Year in the Northeast-10 Conference, was one of 20 players
selected from a pool of 265 Division II teams nationally. The
all-star game will be held at the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall
of Fame on Friday (Mar. 24) at 7 pm in conjunction with this
week’s Elite Eight.
NORTHEAST-10 CONFERENCE ANNOUNCES INAUGURAL HALL OF FAME CLASS
The Northeast-10 Conference announced last week the members of the
inaugural NE-10 Hall of Fame. Representing Bryant among the
25 inductees are golfer Jim Hallett (1980-83) and tennis star Roman
Pavlik (1992-96). A complete listing of the hall of fame
members can be found at www.northeast10.org. The inductees
will be honored at a banquet on June 5, 2006 at the Harvard Club in
Boston.
FIELD HOCKEY PAIR NAMED TO ACADEMIC SQUAD WHILE TEAM HONORED FOR
GPA
Bryant University field hockey standouts Rebecca Lange
(Whitinsville, Mass.) and Alayne Sadler (Rehoboth, Mass.)
have been selected to the 2005 NFHCA Division II National Academic
Team. Sadler, a junior, led the Bulldogs with 10 goals last
season. The program recognizes collegiate student-athletes
with a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.30. In addition, the NFHCA
recognized the Bryant Field Hockey Team with a National Academic
Team Award for having a team GPA of 3.0 or higher.
