MEN’S BASKETBALL (21-9, 14-8 NE-10)
BULLDOGS SELECTED TO NCAA TOURNAMENT T FOR THIRD-STRAIGHT YEAR
For the third consecutive year, the Bryant University men’s basketball team has been selected to participate in the NCAA Division II Men’s Championship.  The Bulldogs, seeded No. 3 out of eighth teams selected to the Northeast Regional, will face No. 6 seed UMass Lowell on Saturday at noon in Easton, Mass.  Stonehill College, the No. 1 seed of the tournament, will host the regional.  Saturday’s winners will advance to the regional semifinals Sunday with the championship scheduled for Tuesday at 7 pm in Easton, Mass.  The regional champion will advance to the NCAA Division II Elite Eight in Springfield, Mass. on March 22-25.  Bryant, the defending NCAA Regional Champion, is 7-2 in NCAA tournament play under coach Max Good.  This will be the Bulldogs’ fifth trip to the NCAA tournament all-time.  Last week, Bryant advanced to the Northeast-10 Conference tournament semifinals before falling to Stonehill College, 67-56.  Senior guard John Williams (Springfield, Mass.) was named the conference co-Player of the Year and brings a 20.3 ppg scoring averaged into this week’s tournament.  Williams is fourth all-time in career scoring at Bryant with 1,736 career points and has made 11 three’s this season.  


BASEBALL (2-9, 0-0 NE-10)
WEEKEND SERIES CANCELED AT
WILMINGTON; BULLDOGS VISIT MOUNT OLIVE MAR. 14-15.
The Bryant baseball team had its weekend series at Wilmington College (Del.) canceled due to field conditions and will return to action Mar. 14-15 when the Bulldogs head to North Carolina to face Mount Olive for a pair of non-league games.

MEN’S TENNIS (1-0, 1-0 NE-10)
BULLDOGS OPEN SEASON WITH 6-3 WIN OVER PACE FRIDAY; BULLDOGS TRAVEL SOUTH FOR THREE MATCHES
The Bryant men’s tennis team opened the 2006 spring season with a strong 6-3 win over Pace University in a match played at the East Hartford (Conn.) Tennis Club on Friday. Zach Goodman (Amherst, Mass.) earned a win at No. 3 for the Bulldogs to help lead the way.  Bryant will travel to Florida next weekend for three matches.

WOMEN’S TENNIS (2-0, 2-0 NE-10)
TEAM ROLLS PAST PACE FRIDAY NIGHT
The Bryant University women’s tennis team cruised to a 9-0 win over Pace University in the 2006 spring season opener on Friday as the Bulldogs took all three doubles matches and followed with six wins in singles play.  Bryant will travel to Puerto Rico next week for three matches.  The Bulldogs will face University of Puerto Rico - Rio Piedras twice and face UPR-Mayaguez.

BRYANT’S SKIBA AND PERRY HONORED BY NE-10
Bryant forward Shannon Perry (Providence, RI) and junior guard Joanna Skiba (Providence, RI) were named to the Northeast-10 Conference All-Conference Women’s Basketball Third Team last week.   

FIELD HOCKEY SIGNS THREE STANDOUTS
Bryant University field hockey coach Coni Fichera has announced the signing of four student-athletes.  The new recruits:  Caitlin Johnson (Walpole, Mass. / Walpole HS), Ashley Rebello (Oak Bluffs, Mass. / Martha’s Vineyard HS), Stephanie Harrison (Chelmsford, Mass. / Chelmsford HS), and Colleen Wilson (Windham, NH / Salem HS) will enroll and participate in intercollegiate field hockey at the university this fall.  Johnson led Walpole HS to the Bay State League title and state championship in 2004.  Rebello was a Cape Ann All-Star selection and lettered in track.  Wilson, also a track standout, was nominated to the “Best of 60” all-star team.  Wilson led Salem to three state titles and was a Gold Medalist at the US Field Hockey National Festival. All four recruits are honor students.
