Northeast-10 Tournament Begins for Tennis; Track and Field Head to MIT

BASEBALL (10-25, 8-7 NE-10)
BULLDOGS DROP SERIES TO STONEHILL; LOOK TO REBOUND ON MONDAY AT ASSUMPTION
The Bryant Baseball team will look to rebound this week coming off of a three game sweep by the Skyhawks. The Bulldogs came up short in each of the three games, dropping every game by one run. Pitcher Eric Loh (Old Greenwich, CT) went eight innings allowing only one run while striking out seven in the one run loss in game one. Senior Daryle Crowley (Danvers, MA) went 3-4 with a run and an RBI to lead Bryant in the game two loss. In game three, the Bulldogs would drop a tough 5-4 decision when Stonehill scored two in the top of the ninth. Sophomore Brian Cleary (W. Boylston, MA) led Bryant with a 2-3 effort scoring one run and knocking in another. The Bulldogs will travel Assumption on Monday (3:30 pm) and then host Southern Connecticut on Tuesday (3:30 pm).

SOFTBALL (13-13, 11-3 NE-10)
TEAM WINS 5 OF 6 THIS WEEK; IMPROVE TO 11-3 IN NORTHEAST-10 CONFERENCE
The Bryant University softball team won 5-6 games this week improving their overall record to 13-13 and 11-3 in the Northeast-10 Conference. The Bulldogs started the week with a two game sweep of Franklin Pierce, winning game one 12-1 in five innings and 3-0 in game two. In the 3-0 game two, junior Nikki Ingalls (Westford, MA) threw a complete game no-hitter and fanned six batters picking up the win.
Bryant followed the sweep of Franklin Pierce with a two game sweep of Southern Connecticut winning 9-0 and 1-0. Sophomore Vicci Duane (West Haven, CT) led the Bulldog attack going 2-2 with two RBI’s and three runs scored including her third homerun of the season. Sophomore Janine Enos (Wareham, MA) tossed six shutout innings and struck out eight for the win. Ingalls picked up her second win of the week pitching another gem, throwing six shutout innings giving up just five hits.
The Bulldogs ended the week with a double-header against #13 C.W. Post. Bryant took the first game 5-4 after scoring the winning run in the bottom of the eight. Freshman Kate Thomas (Bedford, NH) went 2-4 with a RBI and two runs scored.
Bryant will travel to Merrimack Tuesday and host Pace on Thursday at the Bryant Softball Complex.


MEN’S TENNIS (7-6, 6-3 NE-10)
TEAM SPLITS A PAIR OF CONFERENCE GAMES
The Bryant men’s tennis split a pair of conference games last week to push their overall record to 7-6 and Northeast-10 Conference record to 6-3. After dropping a 8-1 decision to unbeaten Assumption, Bryant would respond later in the week with a 5-4 victory at Southern New Hampshire. Ben Caisse (Griswold, Conn.) and Al Duro (Braintree, Mass.) are both picked up wins at No. 4 and No. 5 singles respectively. Zach Goodman (Amherst, MA) and Caisse registered a doubles victory for the team. The team will finish the Northeast-10 Conference schedule on Tuesday with a meeting at Franklin Pierce.

WOMEN’S TENNIS (12-2, 11-1 NE-10)
BULLDOGS END SESASON WITH 9-0 WIN AGAINST FRANKLIN PIERCE
The Bryant women’s tennis team had their consecutive conference win streak snapped at 34 this week with 4-5 loss to Stonehill. The Bulldogs came right back and defeated Franklin Pierce 9-0 on Wednesday to finish the season 12-2 overall and 11-1 in NE-10 play. Sacha Solomon (Bourne, Mass.) and Alex Spence (Lynnfield, Mass.), are undefeated in Northeast-10 Conference matches at Nos. 1 and 2 singles respectively with 12-0 records. The doubles teams of Alex Spence/Alanna Santanello and Lauren Mullen/Michelle Burke both finish with perfect recordsi n conference at Nos. 2 and 3 doubles at 11-0 and 10-0 respectively. The Bulldogs will host Southern N.H. Tuesday before a showdown with Bentley College at the new Bryant Tennis Courts Thursday at 3 pm.

MEN’S LACROSSE (7-4, 5-2 NE-10)
BULLDOGS SPLIT A PAIR OF GAMES THIS WEEK
The eighth-ranked Bryant men’s lacrosse team went 1-1 last week, earning a 16-10 win over Southern New Hampshire Wednesday and dropping a 14-13 decision in overtime to ninth-ranked Merrimack Saturday. Bryant’s top two scorers this season are both freshmen as attacker Matt McKeefrey (Melville, NY) has 22 goals and 14 assists while teammate Bryan Kaufmann (Putnam Valley, NY) leads the way with 23 goals. Kaufmann had four goals in each game this week to lead Bryant. Sophomore Craig Buckhout (South Salem, NY) also had four goals in each of the two games.

WOMEN’S LACROSSE (6-3, 4-2 NE-10)
BULLDOGS PICK UP TWO WINS THIS WEEK
The Bryant women’s lacrosse team won a pair of games this past week, defeating American International 18-7 and followe with a 20-4 victory over Assumption. Junior Shaun Leddy (Sea Girt, NJ) led the Bulldogs in to win over AIC with five goals. Freshman Delia Glover (Marston Mills, Mass.) had four goals and one assist Thursday against Assumption. The Bulldogs host Franklin Pierce for a night game on Monday.

MEN’S GOLF
BULLDOGS IDLE THIS WEEK; HEAD TO URI
The Bryant men’s golf team will idle this week and will return to action on April 29th at the URI Invitational.

MEN’S AND WOMEN’S OUTDOOR TRACK & FIELD
BULLDOGS SOLID AT THE SOLOMON HUSKY INVITATIONAL
Bryant junior sprinter Natasha Stevenson (Haverhill, Mass.) had a solid seventh place showing in the 400m dash with a time of 1:02.69 in the Solomon Husky Invitational held at Northeastern on Saturday. Sophomore Amber Torrey (Plainfield, NH) placed sixth in both the Hammer Throw and Shot Put. Freshman Amanda Early (Haverhill, Mass.) had a sixth place finish in the 200m dash and a seventh place finish in the 100m dash.
On the men's side, sprinters Hafiz Greigre (Attleboro, Mass.) and Joe Brennan (East Providence, RI / La Salle) stole the show as Greigre cruised to a first place finish in the 400m (48.81 seconds). Brennan tookthird and fourth in the 100 meter dash (11.31) and 200 meter dash (22.86) respectively. Bryant also had a solid showing in the 4x100 and 4x400 relay taking second in both. The Bulldogs will travel to MIT on Saturday starting at 10 am.

BRYANT BLACK & GOLD GOLF TOURNEY SET FOR AUG. 1
The Bryant University Department of Athletics will host the annual Black & Gold Golf Tournament on Tuesday, August 1 at Cranston Country Club. Last year’s event drew more than 140 alumni and friends of Bryant University in support of the Bryant Athletic Department.
