Sixth annual ICC Senior Awards Banquet honors 14 seniors for their contributions to the Bryant community.
SMITHFIELD, RI - The Intercultural Center at Bryant continued
a tradition with the sixth annual Senior Awards
Banquet recently as fourteen seniors were recognized for their
hard work and dedication to the Bryant community over the last four
years. Included were Jessica Cegarra
(Danville, NH) and Lorenzo Perry
(Providence, RI). Each were recipients of the 2007
ICC Jim Thorpe Athletic Award.
Cegarra, pictured right with volleyball coach Theresa Garlacy, was a four-year standout in women's volleyball earning first team all-conference and all-region honors this past season for the Bulldogs. Cegarra had a record breaking season in 2007 as she concluded her career with 534 career blocks - No.1 all-time at Bryant. She was also Bryant's primary offensive threat, leading the Bulldogs in kills with 529.
This past winter, she was also a member of the women's basketball team and is a member of Bryant's indoor and outdoor track & field teams where she holds both the indoor and outdoor school records in the shot put.
Perry capped off his brilliant two-year football career this past fall, leading the Bulldogs to not only their first-ever share of the Northeast-10 Conference title but helped guide Bryant to its first-ever NCAA postseason playoff appearance. Named the MVP of the Northeast-10 and All-American, Perry ranked second nationally with an average of 188.7 yards rushing per game last season. He rushed for 1,924 yards and 20 touchdowns in 2006.
