SPRING SPORTS TEAMS OPEN HOME SCHEDULE THIS WEEK

Last Friday's snow/ice storm not only slowed things down regionally, but the storm through a twist in the travel plans for several Bryant spring sports teams competing out of state.  The men's lacrosse team had its game at NYIT on Long Island postponed while Monday's women's lacrosse game with New Haven has also been postponed to a later date.  Last Saturday's scheduled men's tennis match with Le Moyne has been moved to April 13 while the Bryant baseball team's trip to Wilmington, Delaware was also canceled.  This week, several teams are scheduled to play at home beginning with men's lacrosse Tuesday, women's lacrosse Wednesday and baseball hosting Assumption Thursday.

BULLDOG WEEKLY ROUNDUP ...

MEN'S BASKETBALL (21-11)
The Bryant men's basketball team advanced to their third Sweet Sixteen in four years last week before falling to second-ranked Bentley in the NCAA Northeast Regional final.  Chris Burns (Merrimack, NH) and Jon Ezeokoli (South Orange, NJ) were both named to the regional all-tournament team.  Burns, who concludes his career 13th all-time at Bryant with 1,362 career points and third with 282 career three-point field goals, was named Second Team All-Region by Daktronics prior to the start of the NCAA regional tournament. The 21 wins on the season marks the fourth consecutive season of 20 or more victories for the Bulldogs.  Sophomore Andrew Lyell (Portsmouth, RI) averaged 1.8 ppg and 2.7 rebounds per game in 32 games for the Bulldogs this season.  Sophomore Peter Lambert (Cumberland, RI) saw action in 14 games.

BASEBALL (7-9, 0-0 NE-10)
After knocking off Indiana (PA) last Monday, 6-1, the Bulldogs fell to Barton College, 10-7 Thursday in North Carolina.  Mike Rocco (Tewksbury, Mass.) led the way with four hits including a home run, a single and a double plus added four RBIs to pace the Bulldogs. Nick Campbell (Raynham, Mass.) picked up his first collegiate home run. The team's weekend trip to Wilmington was canceled due to the recent snow storm. The Bulldogs will visit Assumption on Tuesday and host the Greyhounds Thursday in the home opener starting at 3:30 p.m. at the Bryant Baseball Complex.

MEN'S LACROSSE (1-2, 0-0 NE-10)
After picking up its first win of the 2007 season, a 17-12 decision over Saint Andrew's last Sunday, the team's scheduled game at NYIT Saturday was postponed due to weather conditions.  The Bulldogs will host Pace University on Tuesday in the Northeast-10 Conference opener starting at 3:30 pm at the Bryant Turf Field. It will be the first of two tough games this week as defending champion Le Moyne comes to town on Saturday for a 1 p.m. game.

WOMEN'S LACROSSE (1-1, 0-0 NE-10)
The women's lacrosse team opened its season in Florida for Spring Break last week.  On Monday, the Bulldogs knocked off Colby Sawyer College, 15-8 thanks to five goals and three assists from senior Lauren Carlisle (San Diego, Calif.).  The Bulldogs concluded the trip with an 18-4 loss to top-ranked C.W. Post Friday.  Monday's home opener vs. New Haven has been postponed due to weather conditions and will be made up later this season. The Bulldogs will host American International College Wednesday.

MEN'S TENNIS (4-2 overall, 3-0 NE-10)
The Bryant men's tennis team dropped a pair of non-conference matches last week in Florida, falling to Wayne State (MI), 8-1 and later to powerhouse Rollins College, 9-0. Kevin Gardiner (Powder Springs, GA) and Craig Drushella (Harwich, Mass.) picked up Bryant's lone point against Wayne State, earning an 8-1 decision at No. 2 doubles. Saturday's home match vs. Le Moyne was postponed due to weather. The Bulldogs will visit Saint Anselm this Wednesday.

WOMEN'S TENNIS (6-1, 6-0 NE-10)
The Bryant women's tennis team is idle until Mar. 28 when the Bulldogs visit Bentley College for a 2 p.m. match in Waltham, Mass.

SOFTBALL (2-3, 0-0 NE-10)
After weather forced the cancellation of the team's trip to Arizona in February, the Bryant softball team finally got its season underway last week at the Florida Southern Tournament. The Bulldogs went 2-3 in the tourney, including an impressive 2-0 win over Tampa on Friday as Amanda Gagne (Wilbraham, Mass.) paced the Bryant offense with a home run in the third inning, good enough to give Nikki Ingalls (Westford, Mass.) the win. Ingalls is now 2-0 and has not allowed an earned run in either game. The Bulldogs will travel to Dominican College Saturday and Caldwell College Sunday. 

MEN'S GOLF
The Bryant men's golf team opened its spring season with a pair of sixth-place finishes at two tournaments in South Carolina.  At the Third Annual Lonnie Barton Invitational in Bluffton, S.C., Scott Congdon (Foxboro, Mass.) shot two rounds of 77 to finish tied for 12th overall while Mike Philipp (Bristol, Conn.) carded a two-day score of 155 to finish in a tie for 15th. At the Fairfield Spring Invitational last weekend in Myrtle Beach, Jason Thresher (Suffield, Conn.) finished just 13 over to finish tied for eighth.  Junior Dan Peck (North Kingstown, R.I.) shot an opening round score of 80 and followed with a round of 82 on Saturday to finish in a tie for 18th.
