FORMER BRYANT FOOTBALL ASSISTANT MARK KLAIMAN NAMED
ASSISTANT AT MERRIMACK COLLEGE:
RON GENDRON INTERIM MEN'S TENNIS COACH

SMITHFIELD, RI -  The Bryant University Department of Athletics has announced the resignation of assistant football coach Mark Klaiman and the naming of Ron Gendron as interim men's tennis coach.  The announcement was made today by Director of Athletics Bill Smith.

Klaiman, who was named assistant football coach at Merrimack College today, recently completed his third season as an assistant coach with the Bulldogs in 2006.  During the past three seasons, Klaiman served as the defensive coordinator for last year's team that captured a share of its first Northeast-10 Conference title and berth in the NCAA playoffs.  The Bulldogs finished fourth in the conference in scoring defense, allowing just 15.4 points per game and finished the season eighth nationally in pass efficiency defense with a 91.6 rating.

Gendron replaces Larry Sack who recently resigned to pursue other tennis opportunities.   A former standout tennis player at Providence, Gendron was a member of the Friar men's tennis team that finished second in the Big East Conference. Recently, Gendron has been a volunteer coach with the Bryant men's and women's tennis teams, helping the women to three consecutive Northeast-10 Conference titles.  The owner of nearby Greenville Concrete Gendron is a member of the U.S.P.T.A. and remains active on the local tennis circuit as a doubles player in Rhode Island.
