NINE BRYANT STUDENT-ATHLETES HONORED FOR ACADEMIC SUCCESS
SMITHFIELD, RI - Bryant University placed nine student-athletes on the 2007 Northeast-10 Conference Men's and Women's Tennis and Men's and Women's Track & Field Academic All-Conference the league announced Tuesday.
On the tennis side, Bryant's senior Ben Caisse (Griswold, Conn.) and junior Kevin Levinson (Pawcatuck, Conn.) were named First Team Academic All-Conference in men's tennis while senior Zach Goodman (Amherst, Mass.) was named Second Team Academic All-Conference.
Senior Annette Jervasi (Colchester, Conn.) and junior Heather Fedesco (Rocky Hill, Conn.) were both named First Team Academic All-Conference by the Northeast-10. The two earned all-conference honors earlier this spring in leading the Bryant women's tennis team to their fourth-straight Northeast-10 Conference Championship and fourth appearance in the NCAA tournament where the Bulldogs advanced to the second round.
In track & field, seniors Jennifer Goodwin (Yarmouthport, Mass.) and Amber Torrey (Plainfield, N.H.) were named First Team Academic All-Conference. Senior Joe Brennan (East Providence, R.I.) and junior sprinter Hafiz Greigre (Attleboro, Mass.) were also named to the Northeast-10 Academic First Team All-Conference on the men's side. Greigre, the Northeast-10 Conference champion in the 100m and 200m and New England Champion in the 400m, will take part in this week's NCAA Division II Championships in Charlotte, N.C.
To be eligible for selection to the academic teams, a student-athlete must have met or exceeded the following minimum requirements: Has participated in at least half of the team's competitions and be either a starter or significant contributor; achieved at 3.2 cumulative GPA; and completed at least one academic year at his/her current institution. The Northeast-10 All-Academic teams are chosen by a vote of the Northeast-10 Sports Information Directors.
