SMITHFIELD, RI -   The Bryant University women's lacrosse team had two players named to the 2007 Northeast-10 Academic All-Conference team while the Bryant men had one representative on this year's team. The announcement was made this week by the league office. 

On the women's side, junior Caitlin Hansen (Spring Lake, NJ) was named first team academic all-conference.  A Communication major at Bryant, Hansen led the team with 39 goals this past season and recorded her 100th career goal in Bryant's regular-season home finale against Adelphi.  She was also named Second Team All-Conference by the NE-10.  

Teammate Shaun Leddy (Sea Girt, NJ) was named second team academic all-conference for 2007.  The Communication / English and Cultural Studies major, led the Bulldogs with 54 points this past season, scoring 36 goals and adding 18 assists. 

The women finished the year 9-7 overall and were eliminated from the conference tournament in the quarterfinals.

On the men's side, sophomore Alex Pfau (Bel Air, Md.) was named to the Northeast-10 Men's Lacrosse Academic All-Conference Second Team.

Pfau played in 13 games for the Bulldogs, scoring three goals and adding five assists for the Bulldogs who went 11-4 and captured the program's first-ever Northeast-10 Conference regular season championship under first-year coach Mike Pressler.

To be eligible for selection to the academic teams, a student-athlete must have met and/or exceeded the following minimum requirements:

1) participated in at least half of the team's competitions and be either a starter or significant contributor;

2) achieved a 3.2 grade point average; and

3) completed at least one academic year at his/her institution. 

The Northeast-10 All-Academic Teams are chosen by a vote of the Northeast-10 Sports Information Directors.
