BULLDOGS CONCLUDE SUCCESSFUL HOMECOMING IN STYLE
Following another highly successful Homecoming &
Reunion weekend on the Bryant University campus, the Bulldog sports
teams will look to use the momentum as the fall sports seasons head
down to the push for the playoffs in October. Football takes
its 4-0 record on the road to C.W. Post, a team Bryant has never
beaten in six games while women's soccer puts their unbeaten record
on the line Wednesday afternoon hosting tenth-ranked Saint Rose at
3 pm. Five teams will be in action at home on a busy Saturday
afternoon coming up.
BULLDOG WEEKLY ROUNDUP ...
CROSS COUNTRY
The Bryant men's and women's cross country teams were idle
this week and will return to action Saturday at the New England
Championships at Franklin Park in Boston, Mass.
FIELD HOCKEY (8-4, 8-1 NE-10)
The Bryant field hockey team split a pair of games this
past week. The eighth-ranked Bulldogs defeated Assumption,
3-1 Wednesday but came up a goal short in a 2-1 loss to No. 9 C.W.
Post on Saturday. Caitlyn Johnson (Walpole,
Mass.) had two goals on the week. Bryant will host UMass
Lowell on Tuesday night at 7 p.m.
FOOTBALL (4-0, 4-0 NE-10)
The Bulldog football team extended their best start in
school history with a 22-19 win over Pace on Saturday
afternoon. Chris Wohlheter's (Newark, Ohio)
67-yard punt return helped set up Bryant's game-winning
touchdown. Lindsey Gamble (Roxbury, Mass.)
is currently second in the conference with 115.8 yards per game
rushing average. The Bulldogs have never beaten C.W. Post in
their six meetings. The Pioneers scored with 32 seconds left
to pull out a 24-21 win in last year's meeting in Smithfield, RI.
MEN'S SOCCER (7-4, 4-4 NE-10)
The men's soccer team split a pair of conference games
last week. Manny Rodriguez (North Branford,
Conn.) scored the game-winner in overtime on a rebound
from a penalty kick to give the Bulldogs a 3-2 win over Saint
Anselm last Tuesday. The Bulldogs fell to Le Moyne Saturday
on the road, 2-0 and will travel to Stonehill Tuesday.
WOMEN'S SOCCER (12-0-2, 7-0-1 NE-10)
The second-ranked Bryant women's soccer team picked up
three wins this past week. After knocking off Le Moyne, 4-3
in a come from behind win last Tuesday, the Bulldogs stepped out of
conference to earn two wins over the weekend, defeating New Haven
3-0 Friday and Bridgeport 3-1 Sunday. The Bulldogs scored 10
goals last week, all by 10 different players. Freshman
Kim Rich (Lancaster, Mass.) scored the game-winner
and also added an assist in the team's win Sunday. The
Bulldogs host 10th-ranked Saint Rose this Wednesday (3 pm) in a
rematch of last year's NCAA playoff game won by the Golden Knights,
2-0, ending Bryant's season.
VOLLEYBALL (13-9, 5-0 NE-10)
The Bulldog volleyball team improved to 5-0 in conference
play with wins over Southern New Hampshire and Saint Rose this past
week. The Bulldogs will host Merrimack Tuesday night (7 pm)
and rival New Haven at 7 pm on Thursday at the Chace Athletic
Center.
MEN'S GOLF
The Bryant men's golf team is current in first place after
day one of the 2007 Northeast-10 Conference Championships in
Tyngsboro, Mass. Scott Congdon (Foxboro,
Mass.) is in a four-way tie for first overall after
carding a 73 on Sunday. The championship will conclude on
Monday. Bryant will be seeking its 21st overall Northeast-10
Conference Championship.

HALL OF FAME NOMINATIONS SOUGHT
Nominations for the Bryant University Athletics Hall of Fame Class of 2008 are now being accepted. Nomination forms can be found online at http://www.bryantbulldogs.com/. This year's class will be announced in October with the induction dinner scheduled for later this winter.
