HOME STRETCH CLOSING FOR REGULAR SEASON; PLAYOFF TIME
After a very successful fall sports season, the postseason is here for several teams starting this Wednesday when field hockey opens Northeast-10 Conference play at home against Saint Anselm.  Women's soccer wraps up the regular season hosting Pace on Tuesday and will host a quarterfinal round of the Northeast-10 Conference Championship on Sunday at 1 p.m.  Football steps out of league play when the Bulldogs take their 7-0 record on the road for a matchup at Division I Stony Brook this Saturday on Long Island.  Kickoff is at 4 pm.

BULLDOG WEEKLY ROUNDUP ...

CROSS COUNTRY
The Bryant men's and women's cross country teams competed at the Northeast-10 Conference Championship on Sunday.  The men's team placed fifth with the women's team placing ninth.  Senior standout Nicole Radzik (Sutton, Mass.) won the overall individual title in the women's 5K race, finishing in a personal-best time of 18:23. She was named first team all-conference and women's athlete of the year by the Northeast-10. 

FIELD HOCKEY (12-7, 12-4 NE-10)
The women's field hockey team dropped a pair of games last week, falling at Saint Anselm on Tuesday, 3-0 and to Saint Michael's, 1-0 at home on Saturday.  Despite the losses, the Bulldogs have wrapped up the No. 3 seed in the Northeast-10 Conference tournament which begins Wednesday with the quarterfinal round.  The Bulldogs will host No. 6 seed Saint Anselm starting at 7 pm.  The semifinals and finals will take place at Lowell, Mass. this Saturday and Sunday. 

FOOTBALL (7-0, 7-0 NE-10)
The Bulldogs rolled to their seventh consecutive win to start the season, defeating Saint Anselm 49-21 on Saturday in Manchester, NH as Chris Peaks (Silver Spring, Md.) scored three rushing touchdowns while Jerell Smith (Brooklyn, NY) rushed for 135 yards on just eight carries. The Bulldogs step out of league play - and Division - this Saturday traveling to Stony Brook to face the Division I Seawolves on Long Island.  Stony Brook is coming off an overtime win over Maine last Saturday.  Following the Stony Brook game, the Bulldogs will get back to work in Northeast-10 Conference play, traveling to New Haven for a tough matchup with Southern Connecticut State on Friday, Nov. 2.   From there, the Bulldogs will return home to host Bentley for Senior Day on Saturday Nov. 10.  Kickoff at Bulldog Stadium is 12 noon. The NCAA Division II selection show is set for Sunday, Nov. 11 with first round action scheduled to begin Nov. 17.

MEN'S SOCCER (10-7, 6-7 NE-10)
The men's soccer team picked up a 2-1 win over Assumption on Senior Day last Tuesday night but dropped a tough 1-0 decision at American International Saturday.  The Bulldogs will travel to St. Thomas Aquinas Monday.

WOMEN'S SOCCER (15-0-4, 10-0-3 NE-10)
The Bulldogs picked up a 1-0 win on Saturday at Merrimack College.  Tricia Spada (Dedham, Mass.) scored the game winner as the Bulldogs equaled a school record for wins in a season (15), tying last year's mark.  The Bulldogs will have a chance to break the record this Tuesday hosting Pace at 3 pm at the Turf Field.

VOLLEYBALL (21-12, 10-0 NE-10)
The Bulldog volleyball team picked up an emotional 3-2 win over Bentley on Wednesday night.  The team would follow with wins over Georgian Court and NYIT but dropped a 3-0 decision to the region's top team, Dowling on Saturday night.  The team will host Franklin Pierce on Tuesday night at 7 pm.
 
BULLDOG NOTES ...

SWIMMING OPENS SEASON SATURDAY
The Bryant men's and women's swim teams will host Roger Williams this Saturday starting at 11 a.m. at the Chace Athletic Center Pool.

HALL OF FAME NOMINATIONS SOUGHT
Nominations for the Bryant University Athletics Hall of Fame Class of 2008 are now being accepted. Nomination forms can be found online at http://www.bryantbulldogs.com/.   This year's class will be announced in October with the induction dinner scheduled for later this winter.
