BRYANT STUDENT-ATHLETES CONTINUE TO EXCEL IN CLASSROOM

SMITHFIELD, RI – Bryant University student-athletes have not only enjoyed tremendous success on the field, but continue to excel in the classroom too.

In the spring of 2009, Bryant’s student-athletes posted a combined 2.97 GPA overall, marking the highest overall GPA in school history.  Four programs posted a team-average GPA better than a 3.0.

Out of a more than 450 student-athletes, 193 earned a 3.0 GPA or higher with 135 earning Dean’s List honors at Bryant University. Women’s tennis led the way this spring with a team GPA of 3.5 followed by women’s volleyball at 3.42 and women’s soccer at 3.17.  Men's track and men's tennis enjoyed a tremendous spring as well at 3.13 and 3.12.

A total of 193 student-athletes (43 percent) exceeded the GPA of the Bryant student population and student-athlete overall GPA of 2.97 nearly equals the undergraduate student-body GPA of 2.99 for the spring.
