Basebal Falls to Southern Connecticut 14-8

NEW HAVEN, Conn. – Bryant's Daryle Crowley had a pair of doubles but it was not enough as Southern Connecticut defeated the Bulldogs, 14-8 in a Northeast-10 Conference baseball game Wednesday afternoon. The game was a makeup from a rainout earlier this season.
Southern Connecticut senior shortstop Tyler Call
went 3-for-5 from the leadoff position, scoring three runs and
driving in another.
Southern has won its last nine games including 13 of its last 14 to
move to 18-8 overall on the season. The Owls currently hold a
first-place Northeast-10 mark of 15-3 on the season.
The Bulldogs (17-12, 11-6 NE-10) were paced by sophomore first
baseman Mike Rocco, who went 3-for-5 in the game
with a team-best three RBI. Senior outfielder Mickey
Ryan also went 1-for-4 in the game with a run scored and
two RBI.
In a game that saw 29 total hits, the Owls got things going early,
scoring three runs in the bottom half of the first and four more in
the second.
Southern plated at least one Owl in every inning but two during
this afternoon’s contest. To go along with Call,
seniors Mel Davis, Jeremy Terni and
Jon DeRubeis each recorded three hits in the
Owls’ starting lineup.
Bryant will return home to host Bentley College on Thursday
afternoon at 3:30 p.m. and Franklin Pierce for a doubleheader
Saturday.
