ALBANY – The College of Saint Rose varsity baseball team rallied from a 3-0 deficit to hand Bryant its first Northeast-10 Conference loss of the year with a 13-5 victory this afternoon at Walker Field at Bleecker Stadium.

Saint Rose (11-11/2-2 NE-10) scored 13 unanswered runs with eight in the fourth and five more in the sixth. The Golden Knights took advantage of two Bryant errors and got RBI base hits from senior first baseman David Stringham (Schenectady, NY/Schenectady), sophomore designated hitter Kyle Babie (Loudonville, NY/Shaker) and senior right fielder Anthony DiTroia (Queens, NY/Archbishop Molloy) in the fourth.

In the sixth, Babie ripped a two-run double down the left field line two batters after senior catcher Joe Mariano (Troy, NY/Troy) doubled to left to score junior left fielder John Marcella (Schenectady, NY/CBA). 

   Stringham, Mariano, DiTroia and junior second baseman Nick Panza (Colonie, NY/Colonie) had three hits apiece for the Golden Knights who pounded out 16 hits on the afternoon. Meanwhile, junior southpaw Leon Kruset (Brooklyn, NY/Christ the King) allowed three runs, two earned, on five hits over 6.0 innings of work to go to 1-0 on the year.

   Freshman shortstop Jason Alexander (Simsbury, CT/Simsbury) had a pair of singles and two RBI to lead the Bulldogs (12-7/6-1 NE-10).

     Saint Rose is scheduled to visit NE-10 rival Pace University tomorrow at 3:30 pm in Pleasantville. The Golden Knights return home for a league doubleheader with Stonehill on Saturday, April 9. First pitch is scheduled for noon at Joe Bruno Stadium in Troy. Meanwhile, Bryant visits Pace for a noon twin bill on Saturday.
