Bulldogs Picked To Repeat By USBWA

RINDGE, N.H. (February 7, 2005) ? Bryant University is the unanimous choice to make a repeat trip to the NCAA Division II Championships in Montgomery, Ala., as the National Collegiate Baseball Writers released its preseason Northeast Regional poll today.

Bryant, which advanced to the Championship in 2004 and finished with a 40-17 record, received all five first place votes in the region to finish ahead of fellow NCAA Tournament participant Saint Anselm College (30-22). 2004 ECAC Division II Champion Franklin Pierce (32-23) was picked second, while NCAA participants Dowling College (31-15) and Caldwell College (27-14) tied for fourth. The complete regional top ten is listed below.

In addition to the preseason top ten poll, the NCBWA also released the first-ever Preseason All-Region Team, which is also listed below. Individuals from the team are now eligible for selection to the NCBWA Preseason All- America squad to be announced later this week.

The NCBWA?s Northeast Regional committee for 2005 is Doug Monson, Sports Information Director at Franklin Pierce (coordinator), Ken Johnson, SID at Bridgeport, Mark Mentone, SID at New Jersey Institute of Technology as well as the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference, Chuck Sadowski, SID at New Haven and Kurt Svoboda, SID at Saint Anselm.
