BRYANT BASEBALL DEFEATS ASSUMPTION 6-2 WEDNESDAY
SMITHFIELD, RI - Bryant University freshman Jason Alexander (Simsbury, Conn.) went 2-for-4 with an RBI and pair of runs scored to help lead the Bryant baseball team to a 6-2 win over visiting Assumption College here Wednesday. The game was a makeup from a rainout last week.
Bryant (8-6, 2-0 NE-10) erupted for 12 hits in the game and took advantage of three Greyhound errors including two in a three-run third inning. Daryle Crowley (Danvers, Mass.) had the big hit in the inning with a two-run, bases loaded single to left. Paul Novakowski (Prospect, Conn.) also had an RBI single in the inning, scoring Mickey Ryan (Lowell, Mass.) from third.
Matt Gaynor (Hyde Park, N.Y.) picked up the win on the mound for the Bulldogs, allowing two unearned runs on five hits in seven innings of work.
Chris De Simone (Johnston, R.I.) had a pair of hits to lead the way for Assumption (1-10, 0-2 NE-10).
