Bryant Baseball Coach Jon Sjogren Resigns to Take Similar Position at Rollins College
SMITHFIELD, RI - Bryant University has announced the resignation of 15-year head baseball coach Jon Sjogren who will take a similar position at Rollin College in Winter Park, Florida. The announcement was made today by Rollins interim Athletic Director Pennie Parker. Sjogren, a Millis, Mass. native and 1988 graduate of Bryant, posted a 360-305-1 career record at Bryant, guiding the Bulldogs to three NCAA tournament appearances.

Sloan Makes Professional Debut With Brockton Rox
BROCKTON, MASS ? Former Bryant University baseball standout Stephen Sloan ?05 signed with the Brockton Rox of the Can-Am League on July 5 after enjoying a successful career with the Bulldogs.
Sloan, an ABCA First Team All-America in 2004 after leading the Bulldogs to their first-ever College World Series appearance, signed as a free agent and made his first professional debut this past week in Quebec.

Five Bulldogs Earns All-Conference Baseball Honors
SOUTH EASTON, Mass. - Adam Rourke and Daryle Crowley (left) lead a list of five Bryant University baseball players earning all-conference honors by the Northeast-10. Both Rourke and Crowley were named second team all-conference by the head coaches. Paul Novakowski, Mike Rocco, and Mickey Ryan were also honored on the all-conference squad for 2005.

Baseball Falls to UMass Lowell, 2-1 in NE-10 First Round Wednesday
LOWELL, Mass. - The Bryant University baseball team fell to UMass Lowell, 2-1 in the first round of the 2005 Northeast-10 Conference tournament here at LaLachuer Park Wednesday night. The Bulldogs (22-21) got a pair of hits from senior Mickey Ryan but it was not enough as UMass Lowell advances to the conference tournament this weekend.

Baseball Heads to UMass Lowell for NE-10 Tournament Opener Wednesday at 7 pm
SMITHFIELD, RI - Following Tuesday's action in the Northeast-10 Conference, Bryant has assured itself of a No. 5 seeding in the upcoming conference tournament and will travel to UMass Lowell on Wednesday evening for a 7 p.m. start. The winner will advance to the remainder of the conference tournament on Friday afternoon in Lowell, Mass. Saint Anselm, the No. 6 seed, will travel to Stonehill Wednesday. Wednesday's games will be single elimination while the weekend portion of the tournament will be double elimination.

Baseball Drops 4-0 Decision to UMass Lowell Monday
SMITHFIELD, RI - The Bryant baseball team dropped a 4-0 decision to UMass Lowell Monday afternoon in the final regular season game of the season. The Bulldogs will open the 2005 Northeast-10 Conference tournament this Wednesday at a site still to be determined with one day left in the regular season.

Saturday's Baseball Game Moved to Monday; Bulldogs to Play Pair Friday at Lowell
SMITHFIELD, RI - Due to heavy rains expected to hit the region this weekend, Saturday's home baseball game between the Bulldogs and UMass Lowell has been moved to Monday with a 3:30 p.m. start time at the Bryant Baseball Complex. Monday's game will be "Senior Day." Sunday's scheduled game at Lowell has been moved to Friday night as the Bulldogs and River Hawks will play a doubleheader starting at 4 p.m.

Baseball Defeats Assumption 10-3 Tuesday Afternoon
SMITHFIELD, RI - Adam Rourke went 3-for-5 and extended his hit streak to eight games as the Bryant baseball team defeated Assumption 10-3 on Tuesday afternoon. The Bulldogs got a strong performance from Luke Cowan out of the bullpen to improve to 21-17 on the season heading into Wednesday's showdown with Stonehill at 3:30 p.m. at the Bryant baseball complex.

Baseball Earns Split With Franklin Pierce; Crowley's Home Run Gives Team 5-3 Win
SMITHFIELD, RI - Daryle Crowley's two-run home run in the seventh helped give the Bryant baseball team a 5-3 win in the second game of a doubleheader Monday afternoon at the Bryant Baseball Complex. The Ravens won the opener 10-3 but the Bulldogs got a strong outing from Matt Gaynor and a game-tying home run by Paul Novakowski to win the second. The Bulldogs host Assumption on Tuesday for a makeup game starting at 2 p.m.

SMITHFIELD, RI - Sunday's non-conference doubleheader with Adelphi University has been cancelled and will not be made up. Saturday's Adelphi - University of Bridgeport game was postponed and will need to be made up as conference games take precendent over non-league games. Bryant will return to action Monday afternoon, hosting Franklin Pierce for a doubleheader at the Bryant Baseball Complex starting at 1:30 p.m.

Baseball Defeats Stonehill 9-1 Friday; Hosts Adelphi Sunday
SMITHFIELD, RI - The bats came alive on Friday as the Bryant baseball team defeated Stonehill 9-1 Friday afternoon at the Bryant Baseball Complex. The Bulldogs had 14 hits on the afternoon, giving starter Stephen Sloan enough runs to earn his fifth win on the season. Stonehill came in ranked No. 4 in the region. The Bulldogs host Adelphi, the No. 5 team in the region Sunday.

NORTH ANDOVER, Mass. - The Bryant baseball team lost a heartbreaker on Tuesday, falling to Merrimack College, 4-1 on a walk-off grand slam by the Warriors as the Bulldogs drop their fifth-straight. Bryant will look to get back on track Wednesday hosting Assumption at 1 p.m.

Rappoli's Gem Leads Baseball To Pair of Wins over Southern N.H.
SMITHFIELD, RI - Bryant junior David Rappoli tossed a complete game two-hitter to help lead the Bryant baseball team to a doubleheader sweep of Southern N.H. here Saturday. Bryant won the first game 8-5 and behind Rappoli's effort and Mickey Ryan's two-run triple, the Bulldogs won the second 3-0. Both teams will close out their three game weekend series at Southern N.H. on Sunday at 1 p.m.

MANCHESTER, N.H. - All-American pitcher Stephen Sloan allowed just two runs on six hits while striking out six as the Bryant baseball team ended its five-game losing skid with a 3-2 win at Saint Anselm College Thursday afternoon. Bryant (13-11, 7-5 NE-10)had just three hits in the game but took advantage of three Hawk errors in the game. Bryant will return home to host Southern N.H. for a double header on Saturday starting at 12 noon.

ALBANY, NY - Bryant's nine-game win streak came to a halt Thursday as the College of Saint Rose scored 13 runs on 16 hits to roll to a 13-6 Northeast-10 Conference win at Bleecker Stadium. Rocco Comes Through Again As Bulldogs Win 4-3 In Extra Innings
SMITHFIELD, RI - One day after driving in the winning runs in a 3-1 win over Southern Connecticut, sophomore Mike Rocco drove in the game-tying run with a triple in the ninth and came up the game-winner in the 11th as Bryant rallied back to defeat Saint Rose, 4-3 Tuesday. Loh Leads Bulldogs Past Yellow Jackets Thursday, 7-2
SPRINGFIELD, Mass. - Eric Loh pitched eight strong innings of shutout baseball as the Bryant baseball team defeated AIC 7-2 Thursday in Springfield. Bryant had eight hits in the game as Loh allowed just three AIC hits before Chris Bowser came on in the ninth. Bryant will host Southern Connecticut on Friday in a game that was originally scheduled for Sunday but moved due to anticipated rain this weekend.

Baseball Takes Pair from Elizabeth City Sunday
SMITHFIELD, RI - The Bryant baseball team picked up a pair of wins by sweeping a doubleheader at Elizabeth City College in New Jersey on Sunday. Bryant won the opener 5-2 and pulled out a 5-4 win in the second. The Bulldogs continue their spring break road trip with a game at Mount Olive on Monday.

SOUTH EASTON, Mass. -- The Bryant University baseball team is favored to win the 2005 Northeast-10 Conference championship according to the preseason coaches' poll the league released on Monday. Bryant earned nine of 13 first place votes and 161 overall to edge Franklin Pierce for the top spot.

SMITHFIELD, RI - Bryant junior third baseman Paul Novakowski of Prospect, Conn. was named the Northeast-10 Conference Baseball Player of the Week while Eric Loh (Old Greenwich, Conn.) was named pitcher of the week and Jason Alexander (Simsbury, Conn.) earned freshman of the week honors.

The Bulldogs will take on the Great Britain National Team at Winter Haven tonight in an exhibition game before closing out the three-game series with Florida Southern Sunday at 2 p.m.
