Bulldogs Look to Advance to Championship Game with Win against Franklin Pierce
LOWELL, MASS. - Less than 24 hours after a thrilling 5-4 14-inning victory of UMass-Lowell, the Bryant baseball team will look to upset top ranked Franklin Pierce and advance to the championship game.
First pitch is slated for 3 p.m. Saturday and can be heard live online at bryantbulldogs.com with Pat Sullivan and Brad Davis calling all of the action.
The winner of today's game will advance to Sunday's championship at noon while the loser will play later tonight at 7 p.m. against #4 Pace. Pace eliminated #2 UMass Lowell with a 4-0 victory earlier Saturday.
The Bulldogs essentially need to win one game today to reach tomorrow's championship, however if they lose to the Ravens and win later tonight, they will have to beat the Ravens twice on Sunday.
Bryant stormed back from a 3-0 deficit Friday to edge the Riverhawks 5-4 in a thrilling 14-inning game. Mark Dondero (Medfield, Mass.) had two doubles and four RBIs, while Adam Vuolo (Walpole, Mass.) threw six shutout innings out of the bullpen to get the win.
Kevin Cobb (Acton, Mass.) is expected to get the start this afternoon. The right-hander is 5-1 this season with a 2.40 era. Cobb hurled six innings against the Ravens earlier this season allowing two runs while getting a no-decision in a 4-3 loss.
