With two on and one out, Pat O'Connor (Mattapoisset, Mass.) put down a bunt that was fielded by pitcher Buddy Riggs who threw wildly down the first base line to score Dylan Stone (Portsmouth, RI). On the play, Nick Campbell (Raynham, Mass.) was thrown out trying to score the go-ahead run, but O'Connor moved to third and scored on Vigurs single.

The loss is the third-straight one-run loss for the Bulldogs (39-20), who are still struggling to turn things around in 2008 postseason action after a stellar regular season.
But again, it was Bryant who threatened first. With aluminum bats in their hands, the Bulldogs put two runners in scoring position with two outs for catcher Jeff Vigurs (South Windor, Conn.). But Dowling hurler Brent Lotito struck the catcher out swinging to strand them both.
Bryant ace Eric Loh (Old Greenwich, Conn.) would not be as lucky, in the top of the second and third, as the Golden Lions would score twice each frame.

PAIR OF HOME RUNS VAULT THIRD-SEEDED FRANKLIN PIERCE TO 10-9 VICTORY OVER TOP-SEEDED BRYANT SATURDAY AFTERNOON; BULLDOGS TO PLAY NO. 2 SOUTHERN CONNECTICUT AT 7 P.M. TONIGHT IN WIN-OR-GO-HOME MATCHUP
RINDGE, NH - The recently dormant bats of the top-seeded Bulldogs came alive again in Saturday's Northeast-10 Conference Tournament matchup against third-seeded Franklin Pierce University, but Bryant University's 14 hits wouldn't be enough to overcome a pair of big innings for the Ravens, who took the 10-9 victory at Pappas Field.
A pair of triples complimented home runs in the fourth and ninth to highlight Franklin Pierce's (38-12) 13-hit afternoon, with Matt Anderson's final-frame solo shot proving to be the game-winner.

TOP-SEEDED BRYANT ELIMINATED FROM NE-10 TOURNAMENT WITH NINTH-INNING LOSS TO SECOND-SEEDED SOUTHERN CONNECTICUT, 1-0, SATURDAY NIGHT
RINDGE, NH - The top-seeded Bryant University baseball team dropped a tough 1-0 win-or-go-home contest Saturday in the Northeast-10 Conference Tournament elimination game nightcap, walking in a run in the ninth as the Bulldogs took their second loss of the day at Pappas Field.
The two top teams in the league entered into a decisively defensive contest in the early innings, highlighted by a number of stellar catches from Bryant (39-19) fielders that kept the tally scoreless through the eighth frame.
Right fielder Taylor Ferguson (Charlton, Mass.) saved a run in the top of the fourth, chasing down a ball seemingly destined for the right centerfield gap off the bat of Karl Derbacher. The sophomore came close to turning the remarkable catch into a double play, nearly doubling up Mo Davidson as he hustled back to first. Fittingly, Ferguson would make all three outs in the inning on fly balls to right field.

Senior captain Jason Alexander (Simsbury, Conn.) got things started for the Bulldogs (39-17), padding his all-time Bryant hit-by-pitch record by getting plunked for the 16th time this season and 43rd of his career to lead off the bottom of the first.
