BRYANT TAKES 3-2 WIN OVER BLOOMFIELD IN 15 INNING GAME ON BACK
OF GAME-WINNING RBI FROM STONE
BOCA RATON, Fla. -- After 15 innings of hard-fought baseball, the Bryant University baseball team took a topped Bloomfield College, 3-2, Sunday afternoon in Florida.
Dan Lozeau (Pelham, NH) got the nod on the mound and threw 7.2 innings, allowing just one earned run before Mark Andrews (Hillsborough, NJ), Eric Polvani (Wallingford, Conn.) and Adam Vuolo (Walpole, Mass.) combined for 7.1 innings of shutout relief to close out the marathon game.
David O'Brien (Whitman, Mass.) hit a two-run single to tie the game at 2-2 in the fourth inning for the Bulldogs (6-3), but the game remained scoreless through the 15th when Dylan Stone (Portsmouth, RI) singled, sending Jeff Vigurs (South Windor, Conn.) around to score the go-ahead run and eventual game-winner.
Stone, Pat O'Connor (Mattapoisett, Mass.) and Pat McKenna (Orange, Conn.) each recorded two hits in the contest while Vuolo picked up the win.
Due to the length of the first game, Bryant's scheduled second
game against C.W. Post was postponed as a result of Bryant's travel
plans. The game with be made up at a later date during the northern
portion of the Bulldogs' schedule.
