BULLDOGS VISIT DAVIDSON FRIDAY
After going 0-for-3 on its weekend trip to Davidson, N.C., the Bryant University baseball team heads to the state of Virginia the next three days searching for its first win of the season.  Bryant (0-6), playing in its second season of Division I, will travel to Lexington, Va. Monday to face  VMI at 4 pm and visit Blacksburg, Va. for two games at Virginia Tech Tuesday and Wednesday. The Bulldogs will wrap up the trip Thursday with a game at West Virginia University .

LAST WEEK AT DAVIDSON
The Bulldogs came up short in three games at Davidson over the past weekend. Playing a doubleheader Saturday, Bryant dropped a tough 3-2 decision to UNC-Asheville despite a solid pitching performance from senior ace Eric Polvani (Wallingford, Conn.).  Polvani pitched eight strong innings allowing just three runs on two hits while striking out four. The Bulldogs out-hit UNC-Asheville 9-2 but left seven runners on base. Bryant would drop 4-2 and 6-2 games to Davidson to close out the weekend. Freshman Kevin Brown (Northborough, Mass.) drilled his first home run of his career in Bryant's 6-2 loss Sunday.

QUICK HITS
- Bryant was picked to finish 5th in the NEC this season, the school's first as a member of the conference. The Bulldogs are not eligible for the postseason tournament but will be included in the league's standings.
- Bryant was 32-22 last season in its first year of Division I including 8-1 at home
- Entering the year, Bryant returns its top two hitters from a year ago in senior catcher Jeff Vigurs (.389, 9 HR) and senior centerfielder Nick Campbell (.375, 3 HR).
- Campbell is Bryant's all-time career hits leader with 266
- With 50 doubles in his career, Vigurs needs four doubles tie Scott Yankee for the most in a career at 54.
- Vigurs and Campbell each have 136 career RBI.
- In 71 appearances (189.1 innings), Eric Polvani has a 2.33 ERA
- Bryant is 0-2 this year when out-hitting opponents
- Bryant has been out-scored 38 to 17 this year

NICE DEBUT
Three newcomers made a solid debut during the opening weekend at Nicholls State.  Freshman left fielder Kevin Brown (Northborough, Mass.) hit .364 in three games, collecting four hits including a pair of doubles.  Junior Zak Cianciolo (Prospect, Conn.), a transfer from UConn-Avery Point, batted .333 for the weekend with a double and RBI.  University of Vermont transfer David Soltis (Plainville, Conn.) hit.200 with a home run in the sixth inning of the opener against Nicholls State and the Bulldogs trailing 4-0.  Last weekend against Davidson, Brown hammered his first home run of the year, giving the Bulldogs and early 2-0 lead Sunday against the Wildcats.

FAMILIAR FOES
While Monday's meeting with VMI will be the first, Bryant and Virginia Tech hooked up last year around this time with Bryant picking up a 7-5 win in Blacksburgh, Va. The Bulldogs also knocked off Radford 5-4 later in the day and would take two of three at the University of Richmond.

CAMPBELL ALL-TIME HITS LEADER
Centerfielder Nick Campbell (Raynham, Mass.), Bryant's all-time career hits leader, a mark set as a junior last year, is off to a great start in 2010.  The senior is currently hitting a team-best .391 with nine hits and three doubles on the year.  He currently stands first in Bryant history with 266 career hits.

HOLDIN' STEADY
Senior catcher Jeff Vigurs (South Windsor, Conn.) has been solid behind the plate during his career and enters his final year atop the all-time career fielding percentage list (.993).  Vigurs has played in 178 career games and started in 177.  Vigurs is currently second on the team with a .364 batting average.

POLVANI SHARP IN FIRST TWO OUTINGS
Senior pitcher Eric Polvani (Wallingford, Conn.) has looked good in his first two outings on the year, though enters the week 0-2. Polvani, Bryant's current career ERA leader (2.33) struck out three and didn't walk a batter in the game and only gave up two extra-base hits.
