RAIN CANCELS BASEBALL GAME WEDNESDAY
SMITHFIELD, R.I.- The baseball game between the Bulldogs and Stonehill College was called in the bottom of the second inning due to rain. Bryant had a 1-0 lead at the time. No make-up date has been announced.
Brent Almeida (Fairhaven, Mass.) worked two scoreless innings, allowing just one hit before the rain came. Bryant put one run across in the bottom of the first, as Jeff Vigurs (South Windsor, Conn.) hit a two-out single up the middle that scored Nick Campbell (Raynham, Mass.) from second.
Rain started to pour down in between the top and bottom of the second inning, and the umpires called for the tarp to be put on the field. After a half hour delay, the coaches and officials decided to cancel the game, as there was no sign of the rain stopping.
Bryant will be back at home on Tuesday, April 28 when they host the University of Connecticut (3:30 p.m.). The team will be on the road this weekend when they travel to take on Le Moyne.
