SMITHFIELD, R.I. – Bryant University head baseball coach Steve Owens is pleased to announce that seven recruits have committed during the early signing period and will join the roster for the 2012 season. The first recruiting class for Owens at Bryant includes four position players, two pitchers and one player who will pull double duty as a pitcher and outfielder.

Bryant's latest recruiting class features left-handed pitchers, Trevor Lacosse and Carl Anderson, and right-hander Kevin McAvoy. The group also consists of shortstop Alex Lagos, outfielders Jordan Mountford and Ben Lipper, and catcher/infielder Matt Zanotta. Anderson will also double as an outfielder.

"I am very pleased with my first recruiting class at Bryant University," Owens said. "The commitment and addition of these high level student-athletes paves the way for our continued escalation as a Division I program on the rise. These players all possess the unique combination of having strong academic credentials, athleticism, baseball talent, character, and potential for growth.  In addition, they align with our goal of winning, as all come from very successful programs.  We are both proud and excited to welcome them to our community next fall."

A high profile recruit with professional potential, Matt will be called upon to produce veteran results as a rookie."
