BRYANT UNIVERSITY KARATE

The Bryant University Karate Club, founded in 1977 by former students Sifu Ronald Renaud and Sensei Stephen Maurer, consisted of only a handful of students. Despite these humble beginnings, the Club has increased in size and popularity. It is now one of the largest and most active clubs in the history of Bryant University.

The Bryant Karate Team focuses on taekwondo, the art of smashing with the hand and foot. It is also the home of the original Kangaroo Kick Boxing.

The Bryant University Karate Club offers its members instruction in the martial arts and the opportunity to contribute to the College and local community.  Through many demonstrations, fundraisers, charity events (such as the Special Olympics) the Bryant Karate Club provides a venue to make a positive contribution.  These activities are coordinated through an E-board, which consists of a President, Vice President, Secretary, Treasurer, and Public Relation Staff.

Sifu Ron Renaud is currently the team's main instructor. In addition, there is Sensei Decelles, Sensei Robitaille, Sensei Santoro, and Sensei Williams who come on campus and assist. Over the years, the club has grown to encompass a diverse student and faculty population.

The team competes in tournaments in the New England region and follows KRANE rules: www.krane.org . Over the past few years the team has hosted several division leaders, state leaders, and overall grand champions in the KRANE Ratings Organization. 

The Bryant Karate Team meets every Monday and Tuesday from 6pm-7pm and Thursday from 6:30pm-7:30pm in the exercise room in the Wellness Center. Please stop by...we always welcome new members!
