Granatell Throws Three TD's To Lead Offense Past Defense in Spring Game

OFFENSE DEFEATS DEFENSE 46-33 IN BRYANT SPRING FOOTBALL GAME SATURDAY
 
SMITHFIELD, RI - Sophomore quarterback Charles Granatell completed 11 of 19 passes for 71 yards and three touchdowns while junior tailback Chris Peaks rushed for a game-high 93 yards and a touchdown to lead the offense past the defense, 46-33 before more than 500 rain-soaked fans Saturday in the annual Black & Gold Spring Football game at Bulldog Stadium.

Granatell, who passed for 1,316 as a freshman last season, found Shane Cheltenham in the back of the end zone for a 10-yard score midway through the first quarter. 

Peaks, Bryant's leading rusher from 2004, rushed for 40 yards on six carries in the first quarter and gained 53 more yards in the second half on seven carries including a 19-yard touchdown run up the middle in the third.

Bryant will open the 2005 season at home on September 3 hosting American International College at Bulldog Stadium at 3 p.m.
