The Bryant University football team will look to rebound from last
Saturday's 24-21 loss to No. 22 C.W. Post when the Bulldogs travel
to Stonehill College for a Northeast-10 Conference showdown this
Saturday. Kickoff from W.B. Mason Stadium is 12 pm.
This will be the eighth meeting all-time between Bryant and
Stonehill on the gridiron with the Bulldogs leading the series
6-1. Bryant has won the last five meetings between the two
schools including last year's 24-12 win in Smithfield, R.I.
Stonehill (1-5, 1-4 NE-10) earned its first win of the season last
Saturday , 24-9 at Saint Anselm. Cliff Mason II leads
Stonehill with 205 yards rushing this season while backup
quarterback Jon Kaloyanides has passed for 628. Bryant enters
the game first in the conference in scoring with 31.2 ppg and
second in the conference with an average of 195.2 yards rushing per
game. Tailback Lorenzo Perry (Providence, RI) has 1,032 yards
rushing this season and leads the conference with 11 rushing
touchdowns. Perry had 313 yards rushing last year against
Stonehill.
LAST WEEK: #22 C.W. Post 24, Bryant 21
In perhaps the biggest game in the
program's history, the Bryant football team led No. 22 C.W. Post,
21-17 with 2:07 remaining, but the Pioneers would rally in the
final minute to pull out a thrilling 24-21 victory at Bulldog
Stadium Saturday. Bryant trailed 17-7 early in the fourth but
pulled to within 17-14 on a 7-yard touchdown run by Lorenzo
Perry. After Bryant's defense stopped the Pioneers twice on
their next two possessions, junior quarterback Charlie Granatell
(Franklin Lakes, NJ) connected with tight end Alex Chaparro (North
Bergen, NJ) for a 29-yard touchdown to give Bryant a 21-17
lead.
C.W. Post would drive 60 yards in the final
minute, capping the drive with a 6-yard pass play to Paul Jennings
for a touchdown with 32 seconds left to give the visitors the
win. Perry finished with 153 yards on the day - his 11th
career 100-yard game. Michael Morgan (Bridgeport, Conn.)
returned an interception 67 yards just before halftime for Bryant's
first score of the game. Bryant still remains alone in second
place behind C.W. Post in the conference standings at 4-2 thanks to
A.I.C.'s (3-2) loss at Merrimack Saturday night.
THE BULLDOGS VS. SKYHAWKS
This will be the eighth meeting all-time between Bryant and
Stonehill with the Bulldogs holding a 6-1 series lead - including
wins in the last five meetings. Last year, Bryant defeated
Stonehill 24-12 behind Lorenzo Perry's 313 yards rushing -
the fourth-best single game total in Northeast-10 Conference
history. Stonehill led 6-0 at the half and took a 12-6
lead into the fourth quarter before the Bryant offense finally came
to life in the final 15 minutes. Bryant coach Marty Fine is
2-0 vs. Stonehill. The Bulldogs are 2-1 all-time against the
Skyhawks in Easton, Mass., though this is the first game Bryant has
played at W.B. Mason Stadium.

time in his career and now has 2,367 career rushing yards -
