Three Bulldog Football Players Named to NE-10 All-Academic First Team

NORTHEAST-10 ALL-ACADEMIC FIRST TEAM

SMITHFIELD, RI -   Three members of the Bryant football team were named to the Northeast-10 All-Academic first team this week. junior Sean Bergin (New Windsor, NY /Newberg Free Academy),sophomore Brian Donnelly  (East Dennis, MA/Yarmouth), and junior Marcus Lindsey (Bridgeport, CT/ Central) took home the honors

Bergin has started all eight games at wide receiver this season for the Bulldogs and is second on the team with 17 receptions and 247 yards. He had a season-best four catches for 47 yards in a September game at American International and brought in a season-best 31-yard reception against Assumption. Bergin is a business major

Lindsey, a starting strong safety for the Bulldogs, has already amassed a career-high 38 tackles, including two for a loss. Against conference leading C.W. Post, Lindsey tallied a career-high 13 tackles (six solo). Lindsey is a business major.

Donnelly has averaged 35.6 yards on 24 punts in his first year as punter for Bryant. He had 9 punts in game at American International including a long of 63 yards. Donnelly averaged 37.8 yards on six punts against C.W. Post including a 52-yarder. Donnelly is a business major.

To be eligible for selection to the academic teams, a student-athlete must have met and/or exceeded the following minimum requirements: 1) participated in at least half of the team's competitions and be either a starter or significant contributor; 2) achieved a 3.2 cumulative grade point average (on a 4.0 scale); and 3) completed at least one academic year at his/her current institution.  The Northeast-10 All-Academic Teams are chosen by a vote of the Northeast-10 Sports Information Directors.

Bryant, under the direction of Coach Marty Fine, has posted a 6-2 record so far this year.  The Bulldogs return to action next weekend with a trip to Bentley.
