Football Falls to Southern Connecticut 45-28 Saturday
NEW HAVEN, Conn. -- Southern Connecticut quarterback Steve Armstrong threw for 284 yards and three touchdowns as the Owls used a strong second half defensive effort to earn a 45-28 win over Bryant University in a first round NCAA Division II playoff game here Saturday. Southern Connecticut (9-3), the No. 4 seed of the regional, will move on to face top-seed California (PA) next Saturday. Bryant (8-3) ends another remarkable season that included the schools second-straight NE-10 Conference Championship and second NCAA appearance in a row as Charlie Granatell completed 17 of 29 passes for 168 yards in the game.

Football Visits Southern Connecticut For NCAA Playoff Game
The Bryant University football team will make its second appearance in the NCAA Division II playoffs and second in as many years when the Bulldogs travel to New Haven, CT Saturday afternoon. Kickoff is set for 12 noon at Jess Dow Field. This will be the second meeting of the year between the two teams, the second in 12 days as the Owls rolled to a 56-28 win back on Nov. 2, a game also played at Jess Dow Field. Bryant rallied to tie the game 28-28 in the third quarter but Southern Connecticut reeled off 28 unanswered points, handing Bryant is first Division II loss of the season and first loss in conference play. IT'S GAME DAY: BRYANT HOSTS BENTLEY AT NOON FOR ALL OF THE MARBLES
The Bryant University football team hosts Bentley this afternoon with plenty at stake this afternoon at noon. This will be the ninth meeting between the two schools since Bryant's first varsity season in 1999. Bentley holds a 5-3 series lead but Bryant has won the last two meetings. The Bulldogs won 27-14 in Smithfield, RI in 2005 and earned a 36-15 win at Waltham, Mass. last season. The Falcons come into the game 7-2 overall and 6-2 in league play while Bryant is 7-2 and 7-1 in the NE-10. A win by Bryant would give the Bulldogs their first NE-10 Conference title after earning a share of the league title last year. Bentley, Southern Connecticut, and AIC are all at 6-2 in the league heading into the final week. Southern Connecticut travels to winless Saint Anselm while AIC visits Stonehill. The Bulldogs will return home next Saturday to host rival Bentley College at Bulldog Stadium. A win against the Falcons would give the Bulldogs their first NE-10 Conference title.

Football Travels to Southern Connecticut Friday Night For 7 pm Kickoff
After falling for the first time this season, 30-0 at Division I Stony Brook Saturday, the first place Bulldogs travel to Southern Connecticut Friday night for a key showdown with the high-powered Owls. Bryant has clinched at least a share of the 2007 Northeast-10 Conference title for the second consecutive year and needs only one more win in the final two games to win the program's first championship outright. The Bulldogs host Bentley Nov. 10. This will be the seventh meeting all-time between Bryant and Southern Connecticut with the Owls leading the series 4-2. Bryant snapped a four-game losing skid to Southern Connecticut with a 49-20 win in Smithfield, RI last year.

Football Drops First Game of Season at Stony Brook, 30-0 Saturday
STONY BROOK, NY The dreams of an undefeated season came to an end Saturday as the Bryant University football team dropped a 30-0 non-conference decision at Division I Stony Brook University Saturday afternoon. The Bulldogs allowed 458 yards of offense in the game and managed just nine first downs in falling for the first time after opening the season with a school record seven consecutive wins. Bryant (7-1) will return to Northeast-10 Conference action this Friday evening when the Bulldogs travel to New Haven, Conn. to face Southern Connecticut State. The Bulldogs have clinched at least a share of the NE-10 Conference title for the second straight season and need only one win in their the last two regular season games to earn the schools first out-right conference championship. The Bulldogs will host Bentley in Smithfield, RI on November 10 to wrap up the regular season.

The Bryant University football team, undefeated after seven games and ranked No. 24 nationally by D2Football.com, hits the road for a non-conference game this Saturday at Division I Stony Brook University on Long Island. The Bulldogs (7-0) are coming off a 49-21 win over Saint Anselm on Saturday while Stony Brook defeated Maine, 30-23 in overtime to improve to 4-4 on the year. This will be the first meeting between the two schools and the first Division I opponent for the Bulldogs since 2002 when the team fell to Rhode Island, 28-0 in Kingston, R.I. Manchester, N.H. (October 20) Sophomore Jerell Smith (Brooklyn, NY) rushed for 135 yards on eight carries to lead the 24th-ranked Bryant University football team to a 49-21 Northeast-10 Conference win at Saint Anselm College Saturday afternoon. Chris Peaks (Silver Spring, Md.) had 95 yards and scored three rushing touchdowns as the Bulldogs stayed undefeated on the season at 7-0.

Bryant Football Ranked No. 1 in Regional Poll
SMITHFIELD, RI - The Bryant University football team enters the week ranked No. 1 in the latest NCAA Division II Northeast Regional Poll released on Monday. This is the highest ranking in the regional poll for the Bryant football program. The Bulldogs reached a No. 3 regional ranking last year in qualifying for the school's first-ever NCAA Division II playoff game.

The red-hot Bryant University football team, fresh off perhaps its biggest win in school history last Saturday at C.W. Post, will return home this afternoon to host Stonehill College at Bulldog Stadium. Kickoff is at 1 p.m. A large crowd is expected to turn out to see the Bulldogs (5-0, 5-0 NE-10) and Skyhawks (4-1, 4-0 NE-10) battle for sole possession of first place in the Northeast-10 Conference. Both teams come into Saturdays game undefeated in league play. Bryant is enjoying its best start to a season in school history at 5-0 while Stonehill, under the direction of first year coach Rob Talley is enjoying similar success, coming into Saturday's game 4-0 in league play. SMITHFIELD, RI Sophomore Jerell Smith (pictured) rushed for 105 yards and Charlie Granatell completed 17 of 23 passes for 207 yards and two touchdowns as the 25th-ranked Bryant University football team improved to 6-0 on the season with a 34-6 win over visiting Stonehill before a packed Bulldog Stadium Saturday afternoon. The win gives Bryant sole possession of first place in the Northeast-10 Conference at 6-0 heading into next weeks game at Saint Anselm College in Manchester, NH.

The first place Bryant University football team will travel to Long Island this weekend to face 2-2 (2-1 NE-10) C.W. Post this Saturday for a noon kickoff at Hickox Field. Bryant (4-0, 4-0 NE-10) is off to its best start in school history and will be seeking its first-ever win against C.W. Post. The Pioneers hold a commanding 6-0 series lead against Bryant, including a thrilling 24-21 win in Smithfield, RI last year, scoring the game-winning touchdown in the final 32 seconds of the game. SMITHFIELD, RI - Charlie Granatell scored on a two-yard run on a quarterback sneak with 4:19 left as the Bryant University football team avoided an upset Saturday afternoon, defeating Pace University 22-19 before 3,317 fans on Homecoming at Bulldog Stadium. The win extends Bryant's record start to the season as the Bulldogs are now 4-0 (4-0 NE-10) heading into next week's game at C.W. Post.

Football's Lindsey Gamble Awarded Gold Helmet By New England Football Writers
BOSTON, Mass. - Bryant sophomore running back Lindsey Gamble (Roxbury, Mass.) was awarded the New England Football Writers Gold Helmet as the New England Division II Football Player of the Week. Gamble received the award at the Weekly Luncheon held at Harvard University. He is the second player in school history to earn the award, joining Lorenzo Perry who received a Gold Helmet in 2006.

WORCESTER, Mass. - A week after running for a career best 177 yards in a win over Merrimack, Bryant sophomore running back Lindsey Gamble (Roxbury, Mass.) turned in another career performance a week later, rushing for a career-best 182 yards on 26 carries and four touchdowns as the Bryant football team defeated Assumption 38-28 Saturday afternoon. Off to its best start in school history, the Bryant University (2-0, 2-0 NE-10) football team heads to Worcester, Mass. this Saturday for a Northeast-10 Conference showdown with the high-scoring Greyhounds of Assumption College (1-2, 1-1 NE-10). Kickoff at the Multi-Sports Stadium is at 1 p.m. Fans can catch the action live with The Voice of the Bulldogs John McCarthy and Patrick Sullivan starting at 12:55 p.m. Bryant, which has never started a season with two wins since becoming a varsity program in 1999, opened the year with a win over AIC on Sept. 8 and last Friday rallied for a thrilling 37-34 overtime win at Merrimack College. The win improves Bryant's record to 2-0 (2-0 Northeast-10) marking the first 2-0 start for the Bulldogs in the program's history.

Football Heads To Merrimack For Showdown With Warriors Friday Night
The Bryant football team, fresh off a 13-6 win over American International College last Saturday, hits the road for the first time this season as the Bulldogs pay a visit to Merrimack College this Friday night for a 7 pm game. The Bulldogs defeated Merrimack 34-7 in 2006 but trail the overall series 6-2. Last week, Bryant was held to just 181 yards of total offense but it was the defense that came through, forcing AIC into four turnovers (3INT, 1 fumble) in the game. Charlie Granatell completed 11 of 17 passes for 104 yards but was picked off once by the AIC defense. Bryant was 3-1 on the road last season. The Bulldogs have never started a season 2-0. Last year, the Bulldogs defeated Southern Connecticut in the opener only to fall at AIC in Week 2. Two years ago in the 2005 season, Bryant opened with a home win over AIC (21-0) but fell on the road at Merrimack a week later, 41-40 in overtime.

Bryant's Polomski Named NE-10 Defensive Player of the Week
SMITHFIELD, R.I. Bryant linebacker PAUL POLOMSKI (Franklin, Mass. / Franklin HS) has been named the Northeast-10 Conference Defensive Player of the Week the conference office announced Monday. Polomski had two interceptions and a fumble recovery in Saturday's 13-6 win over AIC. The Bulldogs travel to Merrimack College this Friday night for a 7 p.m. kickoff. The game will be broadcast on CSTV.com with Bryant's play-by-play crew of John McCarthy and Pat Sullivan calling all of the action from North Andover, MA.

They old adage is Defense Wins Championships. You hear it from nearly every coach on every level. While the 2006 Bryant offense garnered the headlines and brought the capacity crowds to its feet nearly every time the Bulldogs took the field, one shouldn't overlook a Bulldog defensive unit that played a key role in bringing Bryant a share of its first-ever Northeast-10 Conference Championship title and berth in the NCAA tournament.

Football Practice Finally Underway
SMITHFIELD, RI - The Bryant University football hit the field for their first official practice this afternoon. A total of 119 student-athletes reported to campus Tuesday afternoon to check into their dorms and settle in for a day of meetings and paperwork. Later in the afternoon, the team finally took to the field for a bit of conditioning and testing. After another walk through Wednesday morning, the team finally strapped on their helmets and enjoyed a spirited and intense workout. Starting at 3:15 p.m. sharp, the Bulldogs took the field with the defense in black and the offense in their normal white practice uniforms. Coach Marty Fine, now entering his fourth season as coach of the Bulldogs, met with the media while the team stretched. But before long, the sounds of whistles and a much-anticipated first full practice was underway.

Football Picked to Finish Fourth in Conference Preseason Poll
FOXBORO, MA. - The Bryant University football team has been picked to finish fourth in the 2007 preseason poll by the conference coaches. The announcement was made during the annual media day held Wednesday afternoon at Gillette Stadium. Bryant, who qualified and hosted an NCAA Tournament game for the first time in school history, after finishing 2006 with a 8-3 record, will report to camp August 15 in preparation for the Sept. 8 season opener with AIC at Bulldog Stadium (1 p.m.).

GAME DAY: No. 25 Football Puts Undefeated Record On the Line Today As Bulldogs Host Stonehill
The red-hot Bryant University football team, fresh off perhaps its biggest win in school history last Saturday at C.W. Post, will return home this afternoon to host Stonehill College at Bulldog Stadium. Kickoff is at 1 p.m. A large crowd is expected to turn out to see the Bulldogs (5-0, 5-0 NE-10) and Skyhawks (4-1, 4-0 NE-10) battle for sole possession of first place in the Northeast-10 Conference. Both teams come into Saturdays game undefeated in league play. Bryant is enjoying its best start to a season in school history at 5-0 while Stonehill, under the direction of first year coach Rob Talley is enjoying similar success, coming into Saturday's game 4-0 in league play. Bryant is currently ranked No. 25 in the latest d2football.com poll and ranked No. 6 in the NCAA region.

Football Alone in First Place in the NE-10 Following Saturday's 34-6 Win Over Stonehill
SMITHFIELD, RI Sophomore Jerell Smith (pictured) rushed for 105 yards and Charlie Granatell completed 17 of 23 passes for 207 yards and two touchdowns as the 25th-ranked Bryant University football team improved to 6-0 on the season with a 34-6 win over visiting Stonehill before a packed Bulldog Stadium Saturday afternoon. The win gives Bryant sole possession of first place in the Northeast-10 Conference at 6-0 heading into next weeks game at Saint Anselm College in Manchester, NH.

BROOKVILLE, NY - Jerell Smith rushed for 125 yards on 20 carries and quarterback Charlie Granatell completed 14 of 21 passes for 173 yards and one touchdown to lead the Bryant University football team to a 24-17 win at C.W. Post Saturday afternoon. The win extends Bryant's best-start to a season as the Bulldogs improve to 5-0 on the year setting up a showdown for first place in the Northeast-10 next week in Smithfield, RI with conference co-leader Stonehill College. Football Puts Undefeated Record On The Line at CW Post This Saturday
The first place Bryant University football team will travel to Long Island this weekend to face 2-2 (2-1 NE-10) C.W. Post this Saturday for a noon kickoff at Hickox Field. Bryant (4-0, 4-0 NE-10) is off to its best start in school history and will be seeking its first-ever win against C.W. Post. The Pioneers hold a commanding 6-0 series lead against Bryant, including a thrilling 24-21 win in Smithfield, RI last year, scoring the game-winning touchdown in the final 32 seconds of the game. The Bulldogs will return home to host Stonehill College (3-0 NE-10, 3-1 overall) next Saturday for Parents and Family Weekend.

Football Escapes with 22-19 Win On Homecoming
SMITHFIELD, RI - Charlie Granatell scored on a two-yard run on a quarterback sneak with 4:19 left as the Bryant University football team avoided an upset Saturday afternoon, defeating Pace University 22-19 before 3,317 fans on Homecoming at Bulldog Stadium. The win extends Bryant's record start to the season as the Bulldogs are now 4-0 (4-0 NE-10) heading into next week's game at C.W. Post.

Football's Lindsey Gamble Awarded Gold Helmet By New England Football Writers
BOSTON, Mass. - Bryant sophomore running back Lindsey Gamble (Roxbury, Mass.) was awarded the New England Football Writers Gold Helmet as the New England Division II Football Player of the Week. Gamble received the award at the Weekly Luncheon held at Harvard University. He is the second player in school history to earn the award, joining Lorenzo Perry who received a Gold Helmet in 2006.

WORCESTER, Mass. - A week after running for a career best 177 yards in a win over Merrimack, Bryant sophomore running back Lindsey Gamble (Roxbury, Mass.) turned in another career performance a week later, rushing for a career-best 182 yards on 26 carries and four touchdowns as the Bryant football team defeated Assumption 38-28 Saturday afternoon. Win improves the Bulldogs to 3-0 (3-0 NE-10) on the year, Bryants best start to a season in school history. Bryant will host Pace next Saturday for Homecoming at 1 p.m.

Football Takes 2-0 Record on The Road Saturday at Assumption
Off to its best start in school history, the Bryant University (2-0, 2-0 NE-10) football team heads to Worcester, Mass. this Saturday for a Northeast-10 Conference showdown with the high-scoring Greyhounds of Assumption College (1-2, 1-1 NE-10). Kickoff at the Multi-Sports Stadium is at 1 p.m. Fans can catch the action live with The Voice of the Bulldogs John McCarthy and Patrick Sullivan starting at 12:55 p.m. Bryant, which has never started a season with two wins since becoming a varsity program in 1999, opened the year with a win over AIC on Sept. 8 and last Friday rallied for a thrilling 37-34 overtime win at Merrimack College. Bryant is 8-0 against Assumption and 4-0 all-time in Worcester, MA since 1999. Following Saturdays game, Bryant will return home to host Pace University Sept. 29 for Homecoming.

NORTH ANDOVER, Mass. - Sophomore running back Lindsey Gamble (Roxbury, Mass.) rushed for a career-high 177 yards including a game-winning 12 yard touchdown run in overtime to lead the Bryant University football team to a thrilling 37-34 come-from-behind win Friday night at Warrior Field. The win improves Bryant's record to 2-0 (2-0 Northeast-10) marking the first 2-0 start for the Bulldogs in the program's history.

Football Heads To Merrimack For Showdown With Warriors Friday Night
The Bryant football team, fresh off a 13-6 win over American International College last Saturday, hits the road for the first time this season as the Bulldogs pay a visit to Merrimack College this Friday night for a 7 pm game. The Bulldogs defeated Merrimack 34-7 in 2006 but trail the overall series 6-2. Last week, Bryant was held to just 181 yards of total offense but it was the defense that came through, forcing AIC into four turnovers (3INT, 1 fumble) in the game. Charlie Granatell completed 11 of 17 passes for 104 yards but was picked off once by the AIC defense. Bryant was 3-1 on the road last season. The Bulldogs have never started a season 2-0. Last year, the Bulldogs defeated Southern Connecticut in the opener only to fall at AIC in Week 2. Two years ago in the 2005 season, Bryant opened with a home win over AIC (21-0) but fell on the road at Merrimack a week later, 41-40 in overtime.

Bryant's Polomski Named NE-10 Defensive Player of the Week
SMITHFIELD, R.I. Bryant linebacker PAUL POLOMSKI (Franklin, Mass. / Franklin HS) has been named the Northeast-10 Conference Defensive Player of the Week the conference office announced Monday. Polomski had two interceptions and a fumble recovery in Saturday's 13-6 win over AIC. The Bulldogs travel to Merrimack College this Friday night for a 7 p.m. kickoff. The game will be broadcast on CSTV.com with Bryant's play-by-play crew of John McCarthy and Pat Sullivan calling all of the action from North Andover, MA.

They old adage is Defense Wins Championships. You hear it from nearly every coach on every level. While the 2006 Bryant offense garnered the headlines and brought the capacity crowds to its feet nearly every time the Bulldogs took the field, one shouldn't overlook a Bulldog defensive unit that played a key role in bringing Bryant a share of its first-ever Northeast-10 Conference Championship title and berth in the NCAA tournament.

Football Practice Finally Underway
SMITHFIELD, RI - The Bryant University football hit the field for their first official practice this afternoon. A total of 119 student-athletes reported to campus Tuesday afternoon to check into their dorms and settle in for a day of meetings and paperwork. Later in the afternoon, the team finally took to the field for a bit of conditioning and testing. After another walk through Wednesday morning, the team finally strapped on their helmets and enjoyed a spirited and intense workout. Starting at 3:15 p.m. sharp, the Bulldogs took the field with the defense in black and the offense in their normal white practice uniforms. Coach Marty Fine, now entering his fourth season as coach of the Bulldogs, met with the media while the team stretched. But before long, the sounds of whistles and a much-anticipated first full practice was underway.

Football Picked to Finish Fourth in Conference Preseason Poll
FOXBORO, MA. - The Bryant University football team has been picked to finish fourth in the 2007 preseason poll by the conference coaches. The announcement was made during the annual media day held Wednesday afternoon at Gillette Stadium. Bryant, who qualified and hosted an NCAA Tournament game for the first time in school history, after finishing 2006 with a 8-3 record, will report to camp August 15 in preparation for the Sept. 8 season opener with AIC at Bulldog Stadium (1 p.m.).
