BULLDOG DEFENSE STANDS TALL AMONG NATIONAL LEADERS
SMITHFIELD, R.I. - The Bryant University football team boasts one of the top defenses in the country when it comes to creating turnovers. The Bulldogs, 3-2 this season heading into Saturday's game at Marist, have used the turnovers much to their benefit in getting off to a strong start to the 2008 season.
Bryant, listed in the group of transition schools, have created 20 turnovers after five games this season. Grambling is ranked No. 1 with 19 this year followed by Portland State of the Sky Conference with 18.
Eleven of those turnovers are interceptions which would put Byrant tied for fourth. Freshman corner Samad Wagstaff leads the way with five picks on the season. Austin Peay's Kevis Buckley leads the country with six.
Among other categories listed, Bryant's ranked No. 6 with a 15.38 yards allowed per kick return on the season.
