WEST LONG BRANCH, N.J. – The Bryant football team got a pair of field goals from kicker Chris Bird but it was not enough as the Bulldogs came up short at Monmouth, 10-6 Saturday in Northeast Conference action. Jerell Smith rushed for 139 yards on 32 carries while sophomore quarterback Mike Croce completed 8 of 19 passes for 79 yards on a windy afternoon to lead the way.

While the quarterback position is up for grabs, one position that the Bulldogs are solid is at running back. The pair worked hard in the weight room over the offseason and spent the summer going through an extensive conditioning program.

EASTON, Pa. -- A record 1,733 high school students participated in the sixth annual Lauren’s First and Goal Football Camp on Sunday, June 7 at Lafayette’s Metzgar Fields Athletic Complex. The one-day clinic featured 275 college coaches who volunteered their time to teach aspiring football players the in-and-outs of the game, including Chad Walker from Bryant.

DEFENSE BEATS OFFENSE IN ANNUAL BLACK & GOLD SPRING FOOTBALL GAME
SMITHFIELD, R.I. -- Sophomore B.J. Aponte (New Britain, CT) rushed for 68 yards on 18 carries but it was the Bryant defense that stood tall Sunday as the Gold (Defense) defeated the Black (Offense) 39-26 at the annual Black & Gold Spring Football Game before more than 2,000 sundrenched fans on a gorgeous afternoon at Bulldog Stadium. The game concludes the spring football season for the Bulldogs who will open the 2009 season hosting Southern Connecticut State on September 5.

SMITHFIELD, RI – The Bryant University football team will return to the practice field for the first time since last fall this Wednesday afternoon when the Bulldogs begin spring football practice. Wednesday’s practice, set to begin at 4 pm, will be the first of 15 total practices this spring leading up to the annual Black & Gold Spring Football Game set for Sunday, April 19 at 1 pm.
