Newton North alumnus Jason Riffe tackled all challenges at Bryant University
Jason Riffe was ready to tackle a new challenge after completing a very successful football career at Newton North.
He went on to tackle more than any player in Bryant University history. Riffe made 249 stops over four seasons for the Division I program in a record-setting career.

BRYANT’S RIFFE RECORDS AN INTERPCEPTION IN INAUGURAL FCS SENIOR SCOUT BOWL
SMITHFIELD, R.I. – Bryant University senior football player Jason Riffe (Newton, Mass.) participated in the Inaugural FCS Senior Scout Bowl this past weekend, accounting for four tackles and a key fourth quarter interception. Despite the solid performance by Riffe and the North team, the South All-Star squad came out on top, 13-12.

BLACK AND GOLD COMPLETE HISTORICAL SEASON; BRYANT FOOTBALL 2010 REVIEW
The Bryant University football team once again proved to be a contender on the Division I (FCS) level in 2010, earning the program’s first-ever win over a nationally ranked opponent in then-No. 25 Robert Morris while finishing fourth in the Northeast Conference with a 4-4 league mark. Along the way, four different Bulldogs etched their names into the Bryant record books as the Black and Gold picked up a number of signature wins en route to a 7-4 overall record.

SMITHFIELD, R.I. - Bryant University football sophomore Jordan Brown (Glastonbury, Conn.) and senior Jason Riffe (Newton, Mass.) have been named to the Division I (FCS) All-New England team by the New England Football Writers Association on Wednesday. This momentous occasion marks the first time two Bryant players have received FCS All-New England honors in the same season.

SMITHFIELD, R.I. -- Quarterback Mike Croce threw for a career-best 314 yards and two scores and completed a pass to eight different receivers. But it was not enough as the the Bulldogs dropped a 37-29 decision to visiting Duquesne Saturday afternoon to conclude the season 7-4 overall and 4-4 in the NEC .

SMITHFIELD, R.I. - Bryant University football moved to 3-0 on the season after defeating Merrimack College, 46-29, Saturday afternoon in Bulldog Stadium. The Bulldogs racked up 291 rushing yards and went seven for seven in the redzone. Senior running back Mike Canfora rushed the ball 24 times for 111 yards and three touchdowns. Canfora also caught four passes for 33 yards and two more touchdowns, giving him five total.

BRYANTS WAGSTAFF NAMED NEC CO-DEFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK

BRYANT FOOTBALL VS. SAINT ANSELM: POSTGAME NOTES
SMITHFIELD, R.I. - The Bryant University Football team moved to 2-0 on the season after defeating visiting Saint Anselm Hawks Saturday at Bulldog Stadium. The Bulldogs racked up 184 yards rushing and 262 yards of total offense. Defensively, junior defensive back Samad Wagstaff led the unit with two interceptions and one pass break-up.

IT'S GAME DAY - BULLDOG FOOTBALL HOSTS SAINT ANSELM TODAY AT 1 P.M.
SMITHFIELD, R.I.-- Bryant University football (1-0) will play host to Saint Anselm College (0-1) Saturday, Sept. 11, 2010 at 1 p.m. in Bulldog Stadium (3,400). The matchup marks the 10th meeting all-time between both programs and the first since the 2007 season. Bryant University won the last meeting 49-21 on Oct. 19, 2007 at Saint Anselm, giving the Bulldogs a 6-3 series lead.

SMITHFIELD, R.I Last week in the win over Fordham, the Bryant University offense was in high gear. In Saturdays win over Saint Anselm, it was the teams defense that came through when it needed as the Bulldogs improve to 2-0 to start the season.

BRYANT'S JORDAN BROWN RECOGNIZED WITH GOLD HELMET AWARD
BOSTON, MASS. After accumulating 212 all-purpose yards and scoring four touchdowns in the season opener, Bryant sophomore Jordan Brown has been recognized with the weekly New England Football Writers D-IAA Gold Helmet Award, presented by the Gridiron Club of Greater Boston. The presentation was made at a luncheon Wednesday afternoon in the Dillon Field House at Harvard University.

BRYANT FOOTBALL CAMP OFFICIALLY KICKS OFF
SMITHFIELD, R.I. The Bryant University football team kicked off the fall practice season with the first official practice Thursday afternoon at the teams practice facility. More than 100 players reported to camp in the morning, checking into their dorm rooms and picking up their team equipment before heading out to the field for some conditioning and position drills.
