Jerell Smith enters his first year on the Bryant University football staff in 2011 as the running backs coach. Smith, who graduated from Bryant in 2009, spent the 2010 season as an assistant coach on Marc Klaiman's staff at Anna Maria College in Paxton, Mass.

Smith had a stellar career in Smithfield, R.I. after transferring from Howard University.  The Brooklyn native finished third all-time in school history for career rushing yards with 3,071 and scored 17 career rushing touchdowns.
