Brickey, a native of Affton, Missouri, comes to Bryant from Samford University in Birmingham, Alabama where he was the assistant head coach and offensive coordinator and coaching the quarterbacks for the past four seasons (2007-2010). During his tenure at Samford, quarterback Dustin Taliaferro was named the Southern Conference’s Freshman of the Year while the Bulldogs posted its first 1,000-yard rusher in nearly ten years.
Prior to arriving at Samford, Brickey was the offensive coordinator and quarterbacks coach at Missouri State (2006), quarterbacks coach at Eastern Illinois (2005) and at Indiana State (2004). While at Indiana State, the Sycamores set a new school record for passing yards in a season. It was his third coaching stint at the school after serving as an assistant from 1978 to 1985 and again during the 1992 when he was the offensive coordinator.
Brickey coached the quarterbacks at Iowa State University for four seasons, serving as the passing game coordinator from 2000-01 before promoted to offensive coordinator for the 2002-03 seasons. While at ISU he helped guide the Cyclones to the school’s first back-to-back bowl games in 23 seasons.
A 1976 graduate of the University of Missouri where he was a member of the Tigers’ football team as a quarterback and defensive back, Brickey would begin his coaching career as a graduate assistant coach at his alma mater in 1976-77.
