Bryant Falls to UMass Lowell in OT, 3-2

SMITHFIELD, RI ?The Bryant University field hockey team lost in overtime to Northeast-10 Conference foe UMass Lowell by a score of 3-2 today in a game played at the Bryant Field Hockey Complex.
Both teams had trouble finding the back of the net early on, however the River Hawks did manage to score at 32:59 when Jacklyn Driscoll scored off a Jonna DeLuze assist.
The second half was a different story. The River Hawks went up 2-0 at 36:14 on a Taylor Kloss goal. The Bulldogs responded at 42:26 when junior Maureen Burns (Derry, NH) scored Bryant?s first Northeast-10 goal of the season off an assist from sophomore Michaela Dwyer (Buskirk, NY), cutting the lead to 2-1.
Bryant tied the game 2-2 at 52:12 when freshman Molly Burt (Hopedale, Mass.) scored off an assist from fellow freshman Shana Libman (Attleboro, Mass.).
The Bryant defense also played hard and was led by senior goalie Kristen Patat (Portsmouth, NH) who made 16 saves, including five in overtime period.
The River Hawks finished the game at 77:22 when Courtney Hill scored off a penalty stroke to give UMass Lowell the win.
Bryant (0-3 NE-10, 1-4) will host Merrimack College this Sunday at 1 p.m.
